System Security

Post by ocjimmy on Sun 28 Jun 2009, 10:33 pm

First topic message reminder :

I have been reading and trying help already posted. Nothing is working and my computer is continually freezing up and closing, I can not download anything, nor am I able to run any programs. A window appears prior to my Internet explorer closing which is "403 Forbidden". When I try to close it, it closes internet explorer as well. Very Frustrating! Also when I run my computer in safe mode I am unable to access the internet. HELP!!!!!!!! PLEASE!!!!!!!!!

Can you do the following in Safe Mode with Networking, as the computer is booting press and hold your "F8 Key" which should bring up the "Windows Advanced Options Menu" as shown below. Use your arrow keys to move to "Safe Mode with Networking" and press your Enter key.

Note: With some computers if you press and hold a key as the computer is booting you will get a stuck key message. If this occurs, instead of pressing and holding the "F8 key", tap the "F8 key" continuously until you get the startup menu.) Once in the start up menu, select "Safe Mode with Networking", then try downloading DDS from there.

Hello again......Internet has been down all day! I tried what you said, actually I'm still in safe mode. I still get a page of symbols on link 1 and a page with a black background and white letters on link 2?
Any other ideas?

Okay, instead, right click link 1, and select "Save link as..." (if you use IE)

Hello, run DDS again but this time can you paste the whole log here, just split the log into two posts or more if required, I only need to see the DDS.txt.

When I tried to run DDS the only thing that happened was that note pad opened with the information I sent you. No other instructions or log or any thing? Maybe the link is faulty? I don't know?

  • Download combofix from here
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
  • We need to disable your local AV (Anti-virus) before running Combofix.
  • See [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] for how to disable your AV. (Mcafee)
  • Double click on ComboFix.exe.
  • Follow the prompts. NOTE:
  • ComboFix will check to see if the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed.
***It's strongly recommended to have the Recovery Console installed before doing any malware removal.***

**Please note: If the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is already installed, ComboFix will automatically proceed with its scan.

  • The Recovery Console provides a recovery/repair mode should a problem occur during a Combofix run.

  • Allow ComboFix to download the Recovery Console.
  • Accept the End-User License Agreement.
  • The Recovery Console will be installed.
  • You will then get this next prompt that asks if you want to continue the malware scan, select yes

  • Allow combofix to run
  • Post C:\combofix.txt back here.

    Note:
Do not mouseclick combofix's window whilst it's running. That may cause it to stall.
