Re: WIN32/Cryptor Virus with WIN32/Heur

Post by Belahzur on Fri May 15, 2009 3:16 pm

Hello.
Your friend really has got you into a mess here, there maybe more than one rootkit on board and it's going to take more than one round to fix.

I see you have Viewpoint software installed.

Viewpoint Manager is considered as foistware instead of malware since it is installed without users approval but doesn't spy or do anything "bad". Read this article: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] and [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

I strongly recommend you to remove Ask from your computer because it's:

  • Promoting its toolbars on sites targeted to kids.
  • Promoting its toolbars through ads that appear to be part of other companies' sites.
  • Promoting its toolbars through other companies' spyware.
  • Installing without any disclosure whatsoever and without any consent whatsoever.
  • Soliciting installations via "deceptive door openers" that do not accurately describe the offer; failing to affirmatively show a license agreement; linking to a EULA via an off-screen link.
  • Making confusing changes to users' browsers -- increasing Ask's revenues while taking users to pages they didn't intend to visit.
See [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] for more info.

I suggest you remove the programs now.

Go to Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs and remove the following programs if present.

  • Ask Toolbar
  • Viewpoint Manager (remove only)
  • Viewpoint Media Player
  • Viewpoint Toolbar
Then please find and delete this folder in bold (if present):
C:\Program Files\AskBarDis

  • Open HijackThis
  • Choose "Do a system scan only"
  • Check the boxes in front of these lines:

    F2 - REG:system.ini: UserInit=C:\WINDOWS\system32\userinit.exe,C:\WINDOWS\system32\sdra64.exe,
    O1 - Hosts: ::1 localhost
    O1 - Hosts: 94.232.248.66 antivirsystem.com
    O1 - Hosts: 94.232.248.66 [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

  • Press "Fix Checked"
  • Close Hijack This.

  • Download combofix from here
    [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
    [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

    Now do this. Re-download Combofix again, but before doing so, read this next instructions for renaming Combofix.

    1. If you are using Firefox, make sure that your download settings are as follows:

    * Tools->Options->Main tab
    * Set to "Always ask me where to Save the files".

    2. During the download, rename Combofix to Combo-Fix as follows:

    3. It is important you rename Combofix during the download, but not after.
    4. Please do not rename Combofix to other names, but only to the one indicated.
    5. Close any open browsers.
    6. Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.

  • We need to disable your local AV (Anti-virus) before running Combofix.
  • See [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] for how to disable your AV. (AVG8)
  • Double click on ComboFix.exe.
  • Follow the prompts. NOTE:
  • ComboFix will check to see if the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed.
    ***It's strongly recommended to have the Recovery Console installed before doing any malware removal.***

    **Please note: If the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is already installed, ComboFix will automatically proceed with its scan.

  • The Recovery Console provides a recovery/repair mode should a problem occur during a Combofix run.

  • Allow ComboFix to download the Recovery Console.
  • Accept the End-User License Agreement.
  • The Recovery Console will be installed.
  • You will then get this next prompt that asks if you want to continue the malware scan, select yes

  • Allow combofix to run
  • Post C:\combofix.txt back here.

    Note:
    Do not mouseclick combofix's window whilst it's running. That may cause it to stall.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] - [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] - Please PM me if I fail to respond within 24hrs.

Hello.
Before moving on, I want to get an uninstall list.

  • Open HijackThis.
  • When Hijack This opens, click "Open the Misc Tools section"
  • Then select "Open Uninstall Manager"
  • Click on "Save List..." (generates uninstall_list.txt)
  • Click Save, copy and paste the results in your next post.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] - [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] - Please PM me if I fail to respond within 24hrs.

Re: WIN32/Cryptor Virus with WIN32/Heur

Post by Belahzur on Fri May 15, 2009 4:43 pm

Hello.

I see that you are running Limewire.
P2P(Peer to peer) applications are designed to help you easily share and distribute files between you and a group of people. But they can also be used to distribute malware, and thus are not considered safe.
The removal of these programs is optional, but highly recommended.

If Limewire is not removed, then I won't help you.

Go to Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs and remove the following programs.

  • Java(TM) 6 Update 7
  • LimeWire 4.16.6
  • Vuze
  • WildTangent Web Driver

Now open a new notepad file.
Input this into the notepad file:

KILLALL::

Driver::
dadxxkaj

File::
c:\windows\system32\upbqtqs.dll
c:\windows\system32\bhnlmfrk.dll
c:\windows\system32\drivers\dadxxkaj.sys
c:\documents and settings\queen\Start Menu\Programs\Startup\LimeWire On Startup.lnk

Folder::
c:\windows\system32\218538
c:\documents and settings\king\Application Data\motbfgmd
c:\documents and settings\king\Local Settings\Application Data\motbfgmd
c:\documents and settings\NetworkService\Application Data\motbfgmd
c:\documents and settings\NetworkService\Local Settings\Application Data\motbfgmd
c:\documents and settings\All Users\Application Data\Azureus
c:\documents and settings\king\Application Data\Azureus
c:\program files\LimeWire
c:\program files\Vuze

Registry::
[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\~\Browser Helper Objects\{01652DFD-9E35-43B7-B42B-2AE0C15CC5Dc}]
[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\~\Browser Helper Objects\{25825F8B-76C9-412F-98B6-916AFA722D18}]
[HKLM\~\services\sharedaccess\parameters\firewallpolicy\standardprofile\AuthorizedApplications\List]
"c:\\Program Files\\LimeWire\\LimeWire.exe"=-

Firefox::
FF - ProfilePath - c:\documents and settings\king\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\vdf7is22.default\
FF - prefs.js: network.proxy.http - localhost
FF - prefs.js: network.proxy.http_port - 7171
FF - prefs.js: network.proxy.type - 1

Save this as CFScript.txt, save it to your desktop also.
Then drag and drop CFScript.txt into combofix as seen below:

This will open combofix.exe again, agree to it's terms and allow it to run, it may want to reboot after it's done. Post the resulting log back here.

Hello.
Nearly done now, one more round.

Now open a new notepad file.
Input this into the notepad file:

KILLALL::

File::
c:\windows\system32\drivers\xaafoauw.sys
c:\windows\system32\autltae.dll

Folder::
c:\program files\WildTangent

Driver::
DADXXKAJ

Save this as CFScript.txt, save it to your desktop also.
Then drag and drop CFScript.txt into combofix as seen below:

This will open combofix.exe again, agree to it's terms and allow it to run, it may want to reboot after it's done. Post the resulting log back here.

Click Start > Run and copy/paste the following bolded text into the Run box and click OK:

ComboFix /u

This will also reset your restore points.

How is the machine now?

ok, I have done all that you have asked.

Couple of questions.
1) Should i restart AVG 8?
2) Are there any other files that I should delete? I still see some shortcuts and stuff.
3) Should I keep the files that you requested for me to download? Java Installer, JavaRa, HiJackThis, file: Hijackthis-sys

1. Yes, enable AVG8 again.
2. Delete the shortcuts if they are not shortcuts you created/created by programs you installed.
3. Delete the tools we used.
