Solved MSQL Makes computer restart

Post by Master on 14th May 2009, 12:34 am

Hi GeekPolice,

I'm trying to make my own Game Private Server called Gunz, but each time I download MSQL 2005, my computer keeps automatically restarting continuously, non-stop.

I can't even uninstall it! The only way I fixed it was to log onto Windows with Safe Mode and do a quick System Restore. MSQL is now uninstalled and my computer is running fine.

This solved the problem, but I want to have MSQL working so I can start on my gunz database.

I am using Windows XP SP2.

I am sure that this is a bug and there is a fix for it.

Please help ASAP! I am trying to get this client running.

Yes, I do want help. I'm sure it's not illegal as I have seen many other successful servers running.

I just need help starting MSQL 2005, not setting up a gunz server.

Thanks

I looked at your title and noticed you said MSQL, do you mean MSSQL, mSQL or MYSQL?

Do you want only MYSQL or do you also want a webserver (apache) and php with it ? If you want all these, then you can download WAMP. You just have to install the application. It will set up mysql and web server for you !
If you want only mysql, then you can download it here:

http://dev.mysql.com/downloads/mysql/5.1.html#win32

As far as I know, It will not restart the system unnecessarily.

There is no MSQL 2005. Is it MSSQL or mSQL?

MSSQL but i heard if I update Windows and Get Windows XP SP3, that can fix the problem. I updated Windows XP and I have SP3 now.

However, I get error 1603 during the installation. Here's the log file:

Hello,

Have you seen the workaround here? http://support.microsoft.com/kb/916760

If it doesn't work, run the Windows Installer Cleanup and remove the old installed files that were not deleted when older versions of SQL. Also remove the install file for the SQL 2005 tools. Then install the tools again.
