Solved HELP, need to recovery 400gb of data from a mirrored Dynamic disk (no backup)

Post by Kyle on 9th May 2009, 11:43 am

I have recently attempted to upgrade a Dell PowerEdge 840 server from 2 mirrored and dynamic 500gb drives to 2 1TB mirrored drives. The SAS 5/ir controller had the 2nd mirrored pair removed and I now need to recover the data from the 2 500gb drives (approx 400gb of data). I am unable to restored the raid 1 configuration from the drives back to the controller (after 5+ hours of phone support with Dell).

When I connect each drive seperately to another system, they come up as Unallocated and show up as having been Dynamic drives in the mirrored set. I am currently attempting a data recovery on one of the drives, but looking for a speedier and more effective way to recover the important data fromt he 2nd mirrored drive.

Any assistance is GREATLY appreciated.

I am hoping (and praying) that the data is not lost, forever. HELP!

No way!

Hey guy,I have succeed to recover data from hard disk with a data recovery tool called Tenorshare data recovery. It can recover data after deeply scanning your hard disk to look for lost data. You can download a trial version of it and scan your hard disk for free to check out whether your data can be recovered.Luck! http://www.any-data-recovery.com/product/index.htm

Solved dynamic disk data recovery

Post by Bailifei on 14th October 2011, 2:13 am

as long as the data on that disk is not overwritten by new data, the chances of recovering the lost data can be big.
here's an article about how to recvoer data from dynamic disk.
hope it can help.

Deleted or lost data recovery from the hard disk is possible using hard disk data recovery software. Remo Recover (Windows) - Pro edition software can recover even formatted data from the hard drive. To try out this software download and install demo version of the software in your system. You will find all deleted data back using this software.

It would be helpful if you posted what OS this was on. Your profile says Linux, but it's unclear if that's what's in need of help.
