Latest AV-Comparatives Feb 2009 Ratings/Results

1>Advanced+: Symantec, ESET, Kaspersky, McAfee
2>Advanced: GDATA, AVIRA, Avast, BitDefender, eScan, TrustPort, F-Secure
3>Standard: AVG, Sophos, Microsoft
4>Tested: Authentium, Norman, Kingsoft



Seventeen products were updated on February 9 and tested against 1.3 million malware samples received between May 2008 and early February 2009, which can be broken down into the following categories: 71.5 percent of trojans, 19.9 percent of backdoors/bots, 4.2 percent of worms, 1.9 percent of Windows-specific viruses, 1.6 percent of other malware, and 0.9 percent of scripts/macro viruses. The security company looked at how many malware samples each software missed (graph above)

Its nothing but the detection rate of the malware . More lower the graph , more better is the detection rate of that particular AV. For example, in the graph above , The detection rate of AVIRA AV is beter than than Symantec/ESET

So mean that Lower the graph better is the detection capability????
If yes then what about the removal graph?? I mean How to know which is better AV??

The graph techy posted is a graph of missed samples, if you want more information, download the PDF file and read it.

According to AVC this time round, Kaspersky, NOD32, Norton & McAfee are the better ones.
