if the bitrates are somewhere around 500-900 then the size of 1 .mp3 would be around 15-30 MB....

The Bitrate Is user's choice of selection as when u download the free software from their website , it gives u various options plus their is a program called Exact audio Copy at http://www.exactaudiocopy.de/en/index.php/resources/download , which u need to Download . Secondly Tarzan , the file size for my mp3 songs went higher, for some songs it went upto atleast 55Mb

You can download the encoder & plug-in from Thomson's Website

Here's how to setup for one click rips (copy/paste from readme file)

To rip mp3HD files from your audio CDs you need an audio CD grabber tool with external Encoder support. For example you can use the Exact Audio Copy CD grabber. The current version of Exact Audio Copy can be downloaded at: http://www.exactaudiocopy.de/en/inde...urces/download

You can include the mp3HD encoder into the Exact Audio Copy grabber by performing the following steps:

- Open the "Compression options" from the "EAC" menu
- Go to the "External Compression" tab
- Enable the "Use external program for compression" option
- Set "Parameter passing scheme" to "User Defined Encoder"
- Write ".mp3" into the "Use file extension" field
- Type the link to your mp3hdEncoder.exe file into the "Program, including Path, used for compression" field
- Insert the following text into the Additional command-line option field: -if %s -of %d -br %r000 -Artist "%a" -Album "%g" -Title "%t" -Year "%y" -Track "%n" -Genre "%m" -Encoder "Thomson mp3HD encoder v1.4"
- Select the desired bit rate in the "Bit rate" field.
- Uncheck the "Add ID3 tag" option

Since when was music files HD? Best you can get in music is high bitrate/FLAC/CD rip quality.

HD is more effective in movies/TV shows in x264 720/1080p.

Gradually Everything Is Turning into HD as Its An Upgrade Of Technology;
* Dolby TrueHD
* DTS-HD Master Audio
* http://www.hdradio.com/how_does_hd_digital_radio_sound.php
HD Not Only is associated with Movies But with several Audio formats,photos [ HD Photo at http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/forpros/wmphoto/default.aspx ] & Even Radio from past few years[ http://www.hdradio.com/how_does_hd_digital_radio_sound.php ] & Soon We will be able to see 2160p rather than existing 1080p as Samsung has already showcased 2160p earlier this year plus later we all are going to see a big amazing advancement with 4320p/SHV/UHD.
mp3HD works by storing a conventional lossy MP3 track that standard players can play, alongside a ‘lossless’ version — both audio streams are contained in one single MP3 file.It’s similar to how hybrid SACDs work. Ideally this would appeal to users who want to enjoy lossless audio at home, and universally compatible MP3s on the commute, without having to rip two versions of the same song.Unlike existing MP3 formats, the new MP3HD format will not discard any information. Instead, the entire music file will be losslessly compressed. However, unlike any of the currently available lossless music file formats, existing MP3 players and codecs will be able to replay the new MP3HD files. The new MP3HD files will store a ‘standard’ MP3 file—including id3 tag information such as artist name, song name and so on—along with the HD version to ensure backwards compatibility.Can't say whether it’s possible to alter the quality level of the embedded mp3 file, or if it isn’t possible, the quality level of the embedded file. Over the past years, most of the music download services have adopted MP3 as their format of choice, therefore making mp3 format as universally accepted format undoubtedly. This new mp3HD format enables users and content providers to enjoy ultimate audio quality while preserving the convenience of the mp3 format which they always had been using prior.Now atleast there is a solution - at least for me. I've tested this already and it's nice. On mp3HD One Can vividly appreciate hearing maximum subtleties that were on the original CD.
I think probably all music CDs would go to a higher bitrate & sample rate like HRx one day. One way to boost the sales for high end enthusiasts and audiophiles. mp3HD will appeal to archivists with hard drives in their portable music players such as the iPod or Archos 5. But for the chap on the street it'll be small, convenient, decent-enough-sounding MP3s all the way. FLAC is amazingly nice & cool but still needs few improvizations when it comes to people who use iphone etc;
* No hybrid mode
* A broken FLAC file will be playable but probably cause error in player. FLAC has a built-in error checking but lacks
tolerance. Error checking has nothing to do with "robustness"
* iPod [Especially Shuffle, 2nd/3rd/4th gen Nano, Classic or Touch] /iPhone {Including 3.0} cannot directly
play FLAC files and many car's player most probably are not supporting it too as mp3s have been.
* No MP3 Tagging for windows [ ID3v1, ID3v2.3, ID3v2.4, iTunes MP4,WMA,Vorbis Comments and APE Tags].
* No itunes direct support for windows.
* No Guarantee that all the portable media plays it directly.
* Yet To become more widespread universally & more acceptable as mp3 has for a common man.
* No Direct plugin for itunes seen in windows.
* Multichannel support lesser as compared to AACHD
* High error robustness and boundless editing possibilities yet to be established.
* Mac & PC players for exact multichannel output Yet To Be made.
* Flac Files Can't be ripped,burnt,written directly by default In WMP.

HD Audios
* MP3HD [Supported Universally & Directly supported By more & most players,itunes,iPod,iPhone,Windows,MAC
With ID3 Tags.
* HD-AAC/MPEG-4 SLS[Supported by mobile phones and PMPs. AAC as we know Is Already Directly Supported
By itunes,Upcoming Windows 7 OS ]
* HDCD; A Microsoft technology supported by WMP by default.

Last But Not The Least We May See a Flac HD Version In Future beating all its competitors with much much more more widespread usability & awesome fantastic features like never before . But It is Totally A user's choice & decision what he wants to use for his convenience at the end of the day for listening to his favourite audio files.

I always thought that HD had to do with graphics/images

But it seems it can be reflected in the sound

Awsome
