Can't get rid of Win32 Cryptor, please help!

Post by manfrmars on Fri Apr 03, 2009 10:29 pm

I have tried AVG 8.5 free, but the infected files can't be cleaned. Can't start or install Malwarebytes Antivirus software. Can't restore the system point to the clean state, computer does nothing after I click next. Can't restore the system from the backup image on the WD book(computer now does not recognize the USB external drive.

What should I do? Thanks for any help!

1. Please download The Avenger by Swandog46 to your Desktop
Link: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] or [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.].

  • Click on Avenger.zip to open the file
  • Extract avenger.exe to your desktop

2. Now, start The Avenger program by clicking on its icon on your desktop.

  • Leave the script box empty.
  • Leave the ticked box "Scan for rootkit" ticked.
  • Then tick "Disable any rootkits found"
  • Now click on the Execute to begin execution of the script.
  • Answer "Yes" twice when prompted.

The Avenger will automatically do the following:

  • It will Restart your computer.
  • On reboot, it will briefly open a black command window on your desktop, this is normal.
  • After the restart, it creates a log file that should open with the results of Avengers actions. This log file will be located at C:\avenger.txt
  • The Avenger will also have backed up all the files, etc., that you asked it to delete, and will have zipped them and moved the zip archives to C:\avenger\backup.zip.
3. Please copy/paste the content of c:\avenger.txt into your reply.

Hi Belahzur,

Thanks for the quick response!

I did what you asked me to do. After rebooting, while I started Firefox, AVG Resident Shield alerted me multiple threat detection.

I clicked heal the infection. AVG came back with some of the infections cannot be healed.

Anyways, here is the log of Avenger run:

Hello.
Yeah, tell AVG to delete them rather than heal.

2. Copy all the text contained in the code box below to your Clipboard by highlighting it and pressing (Ctrl+CCrying

Drivers to delete:
UACd.sys

Files to delete:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\UACqxivbvme.sys

Note: the above code was created specifically for this user. If you are not this user, do NOT follow these directions as they could damage the workings of your system.

3. Now, start The Avenger program by clicking on its icon on your desktop.

  • Under "Input script here:", paste in the script from the quote box above.
  • Leave the ticked box "Scan for rootkit" ticked.
  • Then tick "Disable any rootkits found"
  • Now click on the Execute to begin execution of the script.
  • Answer "Yes" twice when prompted.

The Avenger will automatically do the following:

  • The Avenger will also have backed up all the files, etc., that you asked it to delete, and will have zipped them and moved the zip archives to C:\avenger\backup.zip.
4. Please copy/paste the content of c:\avenger.txt into your reply.

Please download and run this tool.

Download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.

  • Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
  • The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart. (See Note)
  • The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
Note:
If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts.
Click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process.
If asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately.

Post the contents of the MBAM Log.

Can I use the Malwarebytes on my system? I wasn't able to run it before the Avenger fix. Now I can start it. It's version 1.29.

Because the rootkit blocks MBAM and other tools.
Don't use the one you have, 1.29 is old. Download the installer from my link and install version 1.35, then update it and run the scan.

Hello.
The infection should be gone now, but I want to do one last check.

  • Please download DDS by sUBs to your Desktop (Important!!) from one of these locations:
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
  • Double click DDS.scr to run
  • When complete, DDS.txt will open.
  • Save the report to your Desktop.
  • Copy and paste DDS.txt back here, I don't need to see attach.txt.

The computer keeps rebooting for 3 or 4 times after it gets back to Windows. But no log file is open for me to copy and paste here after the last reboot.

Hmm.
I don't why that has happened, MBAM isn't rebooting it, the stuff it quarantined was deleted without needing to reboot.

Can you try from safe mode?

Re: Can't get rid of Win32 Cryptor, please help!

Post by Belahzur on Sat Apr 04, 2009 5:19 pm

Oh wow, DDS shows quite a mess of malware.

  • Now open a new notepad file.
  • Input this into the notepad file:

    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows]
    "AppInit_DLLs"=-
    "AppInit_DLLs"=""

  • Save this as fix.reg, save it to your desktop.
  • Double click fix.reg to run it.
  • Select yes to the registry merge prompt.

Please download the current version of HijackThis from [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

  • Double click and run the installer.
  • It will install to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis\hijackthis.exe
  • After installing, you should get the user agreement, press accept and Hijack This will run.
  • Select Do a system scan and save a log file. This will open a notepad file of everything Hijack This found, copy and paste it back here.

Hello.
These two files are brought on by Folder Locker. You can see the time/date when these files appeared.

2009-04-01 17:38 c:\windows\system32\WinVd32.sys
2009-04-01 17:38 c:\windows\system32\WinFl32.sys

When did these problems start? Where did you get Folder Locker from? [illegally cracked or from the original website?]

Immediately after I installed the Folder Lock. It's a cracked version, unfortunately.

Looks like the crack you used was infected.
If you have the crack still on your machine, delete it now.

Lets see what's installed.

  • Open HijackThis
  • When Hijack This opens, click "Open the Misc Tools section"
  • Then select "Open Uninstall Manager"
  • Click on "Save List..." (generates uninstall_list.txt)
  • Click Save, copy and paste the results in your next post.

Hello.

I see that you are running Bitcomet and eMule..
P2P(Peer to peer) applications are designed to help you easily share and distribute files between you and a group of people. But they can also be used to distribute malware, and thus are not considered safe.
The removal of these programs is optional, but highly recommended.

Go to Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs and remove the following programs.

  • BitComet 1.01
  • eMule
  • Java(TM) 6 Update 5

Can you give me an exact file path to that file that won't go away?
For example: C:\folder\file.dll

There P2P programs were used long ago. I haven't used them for long since I found out more and more infected files. You're absolutely right. I will delete them.

The folder the file is located is:

"d:\Program Files\Folder Lock 6"

Hello.
Thank you so much, and well done, I'd say your clean. Just need to install new update of Java now. Remember, STAY AWAY FROM CRACKS, otherwise you'll end up back here.

Updating Java:

  • Download the latest version of [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.].
  • Select the first option where it says "This release includes the highly anticipated...".
  • Click the "Download" button to the right.
  • In the Window that opens, select your platform and language, check the "agree" box, and click Continue.

Below I have included a number of recommendations for how to protect your computer in order to prevent future malware infections. Please take these recommendations seriously; these few simple steps can stave off the vast majority of spyware problems. As happy as we are to help you, for your sake we would rather not have repeat customers. Goofy

1) Please navigate to [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] and download all the "critical updates" for Windows. This can patch many of the security holes through which attackers can gain access to your computer.

Please either enable Automatic Updates under Start -> Control Panel -> Automatic Updates , or get into the habit of checking for Windows updates regularly. I cannot stress enough how important this is.

2) In order to protect yourself against spyware, you should consider installing and running the following free programs:

A tutorial on using Ad-Aware to remove spyware from your computer may be found [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.].

A tutorial on using SpywareBlaster to prevent spyware from ever installing on your computer may be found [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.].

A tutorial on using SpywareGuard for realtime protection against spyware and hijackers may be found [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.].

Make sure to keep these programs up-to-date and to run them regularly, as this can prevent a great deal of spyware hassle.

3) Please consider using an alternate browser. Mozilla's Firefox browser is fantastic; it is much more secure than Internet Explorer, immune to almost all known browser hijackers, and also has the best built-in popup blocker (as an added benefit!) that I have ever seen. If you are interested, Firefox may be downloaded from here:

I also recommand the following add-ons for Firefox, they will help keep you safe from malicious scripts or activeX exploits.

4) Also make sure to run your antivirus software regularly, and to keep it up-to-date.

To help you keep your software updated, please considering using this free software program that will check for program updates.
