so, I finally had to get a guy in here to fix my print spooler problem....the guys in the other threads would never answer me.
I don't think this is a virus problem, but I know you will at least answer me.
now my volume control in the task bar is gone and I've done the microsoft suggestions of reloading it from the cd...I think when the tech guy was here messing in the registry he may have deleted the sndvol32.exe file or something....any ideas?

Just to clarify. When you get something from an XP disc, you have to expand it, copy and paste just won't work.

Hmm.
I wonder if the system file checker can do this for us.
Put the XP disc back in.
Press Start > Run.
Type in: sfc /scannow
Note the space between the c and /
Press enter.
Allow the scan to run and then reboot, see if the volume is back.
