Re: don't know what's happening

Post by spacephrawgg on 24th February 2009, 3:32 pm

This just in, I have even more trouble with this machine. Can I post it in this thread or should I start a new one?

Anyhow, I was in the process of cleaning out a massive folder of humor images, and the computer suddenly gave me a Blue Screen of Error Message. so I got into safe mode and ran a spybot scan and during it, I got a dialog box that warned that Spybot might judge some McAfee files to be spyware. I proceeded to scan and remove the results, which looked to be unrelated to McAfee. After that, I kept getting a popup dialog box that looked sort of like when you want to write on DOS and you're in windows. I can't remember what the text in it said. I couldnt open anything else and the thing kept Flashing, vanishing, poping up a few inches to the right or left and generally acting spasmodically. So I got into safe mode and ran a spybot scan - found something, can't remember what, and removed it. Then I ran a Malwarebytes scan which found nothing. So I got back into normal mode and everything is slow and spybot keeps giving me this dialog box that says it has found a registry change in the form of "user entry value deleted" and the entry is "spybot deleting _____" the underscore being D or B followed by a number. The first dozen times it showed up, I clicked "deny change" and then for the heck of it "allow change" and either way it keeps coming up with "spybot deleting D[new random number]".

Before any of this, I had updated spybot and the other scanner btw.

What is going on? how can I fix this? thanks.

Hello.
I have split your post out into a new thread.
Lets have a look around first.

  • Please download DDS by sUBs to your Desktop (Important!!) from one of these locations:
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
  • Double click DDS.scr to run
  • When complete, DDS.txt will open.
  • Save the report to your Desktop.
  • Copy and paste DDS.txt back here, I don't need to see attach.txt.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] - [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] - Please PM me if I fail to respond within 24hrs.

Hello.
Logs look okay.
Spybot deleting cmd del /q is spybots method of deleting stuff.

If I remember correctly, Spybot usually find tracking cookies (or did back when I used it)

However when I tell spybot to "allow change" it immediately comes up with a brand new change of a slightly different name and asks me if i want to allow or deny that. does the same thing if i tell it to deny the change, or if i just X-out of it. It keeps doing this ad nauseum 8>/

What do you recommend?

You have a few different protection programs running all at the same time, it could be conflicting between the programs.

Or, if Spybot is too annoying, get rid of it all together.

Well whatever this is, I don't think it's malware causing it.
