Solved Internet issues

Post by masterbugzz on Wed Feb 18, 2009 11:32 pm

Hello!

I have been having some trouble with playing games on pogo and myspace. I can get into the games but either the window will just close without explanation or it tells me something about my java but when I try to download a newer version of java I get an error message. These issues just occurred in the last few weeks. I did not have an active antivirus at the time so I am wondering if I got a virus somehow. Do you have any suggestions?

Thanks!

This isn't a case of malware.
What's it telling you about Java? I can see from the log it's an old version, but I can't really help until I know more.

Solved Re: Internet issues

Post by masterbugzz on Thu Feb 19, 2009 11:29 am

I will post the message tonight when I get home. It does different things... it mostly gives me the message or it just sits like it is loading but never loads. Sometimes it just closes the window I am working in.

It is good to hear it isn't a malware issue!

Solved Re: Internet issues

Post by masterbugzz on Sat Feb 21, 2009 12:51 am

The following message is the error I have been getting. I will be in the middle of playing a game and then the window closes and the background window shows this message. I have been able to download the newest version of java so I know that isn't the issue...

Help! It is VERY annoying!

Lost Connection to Server
Explanation:
In order to play, the Java applet must maintain a network connection to our servers. This connection was unexpectedly lost.

How to Fix the Problem:
It's possible that one of our servers may have unexpectedly gone down for a bit. We do try to keep downtime for maintenance and upgrades to under 15 minutes, and we apologize for the inconvenience if this is the case.

If it's not scheduled maintenance, there a few things that could have gone wrong:

Your connection to the Internet was either lost, too slow or too congested.
The applet will try to contact the server every 30 seconds. If the server is unable to reply within 30 seconds, the applet will disconnect you. If you download large files or run bandwidth-intensive applications like audio or video, your modem may not have any capacity left to transmit the game's messages, which would cause this problem. The other reason you might experience this problem is that you have lost your connection to the Internet (by timing out from your ISP or some other network glitch).

Your best bet is not to download any other files, listen to audio broadcasts or view streaming video while playing our games.

One other possibility is that you were disconnected from your Internet service provider due to inactivity. If this happens, simply sign back on and try again.

The server was shut down for maintenance, but has already been restarted.
Try signing on again. If the server is back up, you should be able to sign on and play.

There is a network problem that is preventing you from reaching the server.
If you know how to use traceroute, you can try to find where the problem in the network is. Otherwise, you should try playing again later. If the problem persists for 24 hours, you should contact your network administrator or ISP for support.

There is an error in one of our Java applets that's causing the problem.
If none of the above explanations apply to your situation, it may be an error in one of our Java applets. Please let us know by going to:
