is it a virus?

Post by DaShiner on Wed Feb 18, 2009 8:28 pm

computer froze up yesterday, I reset it cos cntrl alt del didnt work, when it rebooted it tried to boot up from the cd drive (normally boots from c: ), tried it a couple of times but kept the same, so went into boot mode and chose to run from c: and this has worked, but why did it happen, is this some sort of virus??

Probably not, maybe a system error.

well, it seems to be doing this every time I boot up my pc, and its still freezing randomly and has to be restarted every time but will not display anything on the monitor unless I turn the pc off via the i/o switch at the back, leave off for a few minutes then try again but each time it does work (work = as far as displaying something on screen) it will still not go any further than telling me it needs a os disk so it can boot from cd drive Sad tearing
Ive tried going into the bios and turning everything off thats not needed but still the prob remains, I just cant figure it out, if anyone can help me I would appreciate it! ( I also chose the bios to run best defaults etc and saved before quitting) arrrgh!
