Solved I believe I have a virus

Post by mymi87 on 28th January 2009, 7:27 pm

Programs are closing on their own, MSN Messenger will not work. When I try to sign into it, my entire wireless shuts off and I have no internet access. Microsoft folders are opening, like My Documents or My Computer but stuff like my samsung mp3 software won't stay open longer than 15 secs.
Here is the Hijack This Log

Solved Re: I believe I have a virus

Post by Belahzur on 28th January 2009, 8:45 pm

Hello.
You are running two AV's, this is a bad idea as they can conflict and cause problems. I see Symantec and AVG.
I would recommend that you remove Symantec to avoid conflict and other future problems.

Go to Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs and remove the following programs if present.

  • Symantec Anti-virus
  • Any "Symentec" product
  • Any "Norton" products

Symantec should now be removed from your system.

Please download the LSPfix from here: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
Unzip it to the Desktop (Important!!) and run it. Check the box that says "I know what I'm doing", and then select each instance of "lsptfg.dll" and "lspmqg.dll" in the left-hand panel and click >> button to move it to the right-hand panel. Then click Finish to allow LSPfix to rebuild the LSP chain.

Please download and run this tool.

Download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.

  • Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
  • The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart. (See Note)
  • The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
Note:
If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts.
Click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process.
If asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately.

Post the contents of the MBAM Log.

Download and install a fresh install of the flash player.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Taskbar is white, it maybe a theme set? it is supposed to be blue like the XP theme?

yeah its suppose to blue with the circular edges. instead this is grey/white with the old boxy look. I updated the flashplayer and its the same thing. I can see the video playing but I can't hear anything. could it be the driver? what do you think?
and i'm sorry i should have said thank you earlier and repeatedly in this post. so....THANK YOU for helping me with this.

Ah, then yes, it's the theme.
Right click anywhere on the desktop > Properties.
In them themes tab, drop down the themes menu and change it to Windows XP.

I don't know if them two LSP files were actually doing anything, Google gave me nothing.

We'll see if we can fix the Firefox sound, give me alittle while to research this.

Yay I got my task bar back!
UPDATE: I tried youtube with my IE and it was the same thing. So the problem is not just limited to Firefox. Emodio (mp3 player software.) is the only thing playing audio.

Hmm.
Just for my clarification, was the sound working before the LSPFix?

Solved Re: I believe I have a virus

Ah, then at least it wasn't caused by me. LMBO or ROFL

See these two threads.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

It could be a hardware issue, or a software issue.
Try some solutions posted on them two threads, let me know how it goes.

Since this isn't a malware issue, I will move this thread to the hardware forum one you post back so I know you have seen this post.
