Solved Can't Connect to the internet

Post by sagangwee on 23rd January 2009, 5:22 am

I have a problem with many of my programs, since they can not connect to the internet, at all. Updates fail, and when installing or confirming something, I can't. Weird this is, Avira and Firefox still work, but Internet Explorer stopped working after I updated to Windows Service Pack 1. I have a Vista Home Premium. When I was trying to isall something, and it required to connect online, this came up.

ARM1054,12029

That as the error name along with some text. Please help, as I really need the internet.

Solved Re: Can't Connect to the internet

Post by Belahzur on 24th January 2009, 2:23 pm

Hello.
I see one problem being OpenDNS, that has been known to cause some problems in the past.
I also see this file as missing in HJT:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\ArcSoft\Connection Service\Bin\ACService.exe

If you use that ArcSoft for connection, that's probably why it won't connect, a needed file is missing, so you may have to re-install your connection drivers or software for the connection to work.

  • Open HijackThis
  • Choose "Do a system scan only"
  • Check the boxes in front of these lines:

    O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{23D3C8F1-C82E-48B8-8519-7DE21F08AB6D}: NameServer = 208.67.222.222,208.67.220.220
    O17 - HKLM\System\CS1\Services\Tcpip\..\{23D3C8F1-C82E-48B8-8519-7DE21F08AB6D}: NameServer = 208.67.222.222,208.67.220.220
    O17 - HKLM\System\CS2\Services\Tcpip\..\{23D3C8F1-C82E-48B8-8519-7DE21F08AB6D}: NameServer = 208.67.222.222,208.67.220.220
    O20 - AppInit_DLLs:

  • Press "Fix Checked"
  • Close Hijack This.

Reboot normally.
Still can't connect now?

Ok, now I've restarted, but the problem still occurs. I scanned with Hijackthis again, and the items I deleted are still there.

And Arcsoft folder wasn't there, and I noticed, the Program Files folder, was 8.56 GB, would I be able to delete the ones I don't use anymore?

Wonder if the UAC stopped the HJT fix.

Right click the HJT executable fie > Run as administrator
Tyr this fix again and see if they return this time, if so, we'll do it manually.

Good. No need to restart.
Lets see if malware is causing this.

Solved Re: Can't Connect to the internet

Post by Belahzur on 24th January 2009, 9:03 pm

Hello.
Do you know what this folder is?
C:\~AXDW^0U2WTU6B

I see WildTanger and iWin on this machine.
Both come from game websites, the programs themself may not be malicious, but they use popups instead of web ads, I would recommend you to remove them now.
Delete these two folders in bold:
c:\users\owner\appdata\roaming\iWin
c:\users\owner\appdata\roaming\WildTangent

I see Comodo Firewall installer on this machine, disable the firewall by right clicking the Comodo Icon in the tray > Exit.

Can you connect now?

I've deleted the game files, but I uninstalled Comodo a long time ago, and the icon is gone. I also have a LOT of leftover program files. And I still can't connect.

C:\~AXDW^0U2WTU6B

It seems that, this folder isn't accessible since it's being used by another process, it says

No, I asked because my brother runs Vista and his wireless didn't work when we first tried it.
You've opened a new topic saying the videos in Firefox don't work, but your on the net now?

Press Start > Control panel > Network connections (picture looks like two machines and the earth)

Whichever one is your lan connection, does it say the ethernet connection is connected?
The network connection path might be slightly different to what I posted, I'm not a fan of Vista and don't use it myself, so bear with me. LMBO or ROFL

In my control panel, I don't have Network Connections, but I do have a picture of two machines and a globe, though it says Network and Internet. And yes my browser works, yet when my other programs try to connect to the internet to update or install, it fails. And slowly, my computer permits more and more problems. I already did 3 system restores.

That's it then, Network and Internet..
Does it say your LAN is connected?

Vista is a big OS, and Vista just has these problems that no one can explain. (Gunsmoke)

Download [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

  • Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
  • Click Select All found at the bottom of the list.
  • Click the Empty Selected button.
If you use Firefox browser, do this also:

  • Click Firefox at the top and choose Select All from the list.
  • Click the Empty Selected button.
  • NOTE : If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.
If you use Opera browser, do this also:

  • Click Opera at the top and choose Select All from the list.
  • Click the Empty Selected button.
  • NOTE : If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.
Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.

Post in our networking forum, Doctor may have new ideas I don't have. I'm more knowledgeable in malware removal then internet networking, because this doesn't appear to be malware problems here.
