Solved can't change system time

Post by charvie on 19th January 2009, 3:29 pm

I have a problem changing my system time.whenever I double click my clock (lower right corner) this error would pop-up "You don't have the proper privilege to change the system time"

I checked my account, and i'm an administrator, so what's wrong with my system time?

Hello,

Start >> Run >> type in gpedit.msc >> On the left hand pane >> Computer Configuration >> Windows Settings >> Security Settings >> Local Policies >> User Rights Assignment >> Double click on the Change the system time >> Verify that this user right is assigned to administrators.

Ahh. That's strange.

Let's try to edit the registry and see how it goes.

Start >> Run >> type in regedit >> Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\TimeZoneInformation

Send me a screenshot of what you see in the right hand Window.

Start >> Run >> type in regedit >> Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\TimeZoneInformation >> on the right hand pane, Right click >> Permissions >> Select your account username >> Allow Full Control.

If it doesn't work, boot into BIOS by pressing Del at boot up. There is an option to change date and time there.
