Re: huge virus problem

Post by dcho86 on 4th January 2009, 8:17 pm

Whenever I startup my computer again it takes a really long time to load and I always have to suddenly shut it off and turn it on again in the middle of loading in order for the computer to fully load up. Is there a reason for that?

Okay, doesn't matter.
Does the machine seem faster now the HJT fixes are done?

I see you have Viewpoint Manager, this is considered as foistware instead of malware since it is installed without users approval but doesn't spy or do anything "bad". Read this article: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Additional info: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

I suggest you remove the program now.

Go to Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs and remove the following programs if present.

  • Viewpoint
  • Viewpoint Manager
  • Viewpoint Media Player
  • Viewpoint Toolbar
Now lets make sure that Viewpoint is fully gone from the system.

  • Next, please download ViewpointKiller by Prm753 from [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.].
  • Save it to a permanent folder (such as C:/ViewpointKiller) and unzip it there.
  • Open ViewpointKiller, and press the Start button.
  • A log will be produced in the same folder where you unzipped it to. Please post the contents of that log in your reply.

Hello.
Lets try this.

Link: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] or [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.].

  • Click on Avenger.zip to open the file
  • Extract avenger.exe to your desktop
2. Copy all the text contained in the code box below to your Clipboard by highlighting it and pressing (Ctrl+CCrying

Files to delete:
C:\WINDOWS\System32\frmwrk32.exe

Note: the above code was created specifically for this user. If you are not this user, do NOT follow these directions as they could damage the workings of your system.

3. Now, start The Avenger program by clicking on its icon on your desktop.

  • Under "Input script here:", paste in the script from the quote box above.
  • Leave the ticked box "Scan for rootkit" ticked.
  • Then tick "Disable any rootkits found"
  • Now click on the Execute to begin execution of the script.
  • Answer "Yes" twice when prompted.

The Avenger will automatically do the following:

  • It will Restart your computer.
  • On reboot, it will briefly open a black command window on your desktop, this is normal.
  • After the restart, it creates a log file that should open with the results of Avenger’s actions. This log file will be located at C:\avenger.txt
  • The Avenger will also have backed up all the files, etc., that you asked it to delete, and will have zipped them and moved the zip archives to C:\avenger\backup.zip.
4. Please copy/paste the content of c:\avenger.txt into your reply.

Re: huge virus problem

Post by Belahzur on 6th January 2009, 10:04 pm

Hello.
The malware has done more damage.
I would strongly suggest a format at this stage, the malware has patched userinit.exe and made registry restrictions.

But if you want to carry on, we will do.
Let me know which.

What is a format? I will do whichever one is better so I guess it would be the format. Thanks.

For a format, it requires an XP installation disc.
See these few links:

Hi. I did a complete format of my computer but I was wondering if there is anything I can do to it to make the internet go faster. I am not sure what is outdated.

Thanks.

A complete format? an infection has gotten in already.

  • Open HijackThis
  • Choose "Do a system scan only"
  • Check the boxes in front of these lines:

    O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{A7228641-77EC-416A-940A-3A6983F8AD5B}: NameServer = 85.255.116.39,85.255.112.105
    O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{FE8287A2-41AB-4161-AAA7-36B286158CB9}: NameServer = 85.255.116.39,85.255.112.105
    O17 - HKLM\System\CS1\Services\Tcpip\Parameters: NameServer = 85.255.116.39,85.255.112.105
    O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\Parameters: NameServer = 85.255.116.39,85.255.112.105

  • Press "Fix Checked"
  • Close Hijack This.

Scan with MBAM again.
