Solved Re: troj/rustock

Post by Neolw on 2nd January 2009, 3:15 am

I Have the exact same problem.....My brother was visiting today and he put some stuff on his external off my pc...not sure what else he did. but he said he went to a web site and got that message. since then my computer has been locking up usually when i try to run internet explorer. I also cannot update my AV (ad-aware). The only thing i see different here is that helpme has taken alot more steps than myself and I have windows xp. I plan on saving a few things to my external and reformatting tomorrow. Think that will clear up the problem?

If you plan on formatting then we don't need to really do anything here.
Yes, formatting should clear it up, but note:

The rustock warnings that others got were part of a flash drive infection.
Please plug in your external hardrive, and do this.

Please download Flash_Disinfector from [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

  • First, download it to your desktop.
  • Now double click it to run it and will tell it you what to do when you open it.
  • It will temporarily kill explorer.exe and your desktop will go blank.
  • Let Flash_Disinfector do it's job and it will restart explorer.exe for you.
  • It will make a dummy autorun.inf in the root of every drive.
  • You can now delete Flash_Disinfector.exe.

If you still want to format, go ahead.

Hello.
Did you run Flash_Disinfector when it was plugged in?
What OS are you running?
