Help me Belahzur

Post by UUBizzarnes on 30th December 2008, 6:15 pm

Hi Belahzur, it seems like you are the guy to talk to about this stupid virus. I have been lookin over the other forums of people having trouble and have done a few things you have recommended. I am by no means a geek, just a casual computer user. A few things about my computer, a Dell Inspiron 8000 with Windows XP. I use both the latest versions of Mozilla and Internet Explorer. I have AVG free edition. I has trouble with a virus before but my computer has been running fine. I couple of days ago I started clicking on hyperlnks which took me to weird sites, usually yellowpages.com or something like that. I went on a websute and clicked on a vid, and the site said it cannot take me there because my computer has the Troj virus thing I downloaded Malwarebytes like you said and it found 18 or so infected files. It now says it has 68 in quarantine. I will post my log. Please help me.

Hello.

  • Open HijackThis
  • Choose "Do a system scan only"
  • Check the boxes in front of these lines:

    R3 - URLSearchHook: Yahoo! Toolbar - {EF99BD32-C1FB-11D2-892F-0090271D4F88} - (no file)
    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {A0AF4A8E-7A3C-4238-82C2-45322AFCB74F} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\xxywWpqP.dll (file missing)
    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {C502C3E5-FAC7-4E24-934C-E41FD589DC5A} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\efcCvSKe.dll (file missing)
    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {F8043C2B-A3BE-4F87-9EBA-0221F496EEFA} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\khfGxWoM.dll (file missing)
    O4 - Startup: PowerReg Scheduler.exe
    O20 - AppInit_DLLs: C:\Program,Files\RelevantKnowledge\rlai.dll,C:\Program,Files\RelevantKnowledge\rlai.dll,C:\Program Files\RelevantKnowledge\rlai.dll ywirte.dll

  • Press "Fix Checked"
  • Close Hijack This.

  • Download combofix from here, use the top links - [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
  • Please disable your local AV (Anti-virus) by right clicking it's icon in the tray, and exit it.
  • Double click on ComboFix.exe.
  • Follow the prompts. NOTE:
  • ComboFix will check to see if the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed.
***It's strongly recommended to have the Recovery Console installed before doing any malware removal.***

**Please note: If the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is already installed, ComboFix will automatically proceed with its scan.

  • The Recovery Console provides a recovery/repair mode should a problem occur during a Combofix run.

  • Allow ComboFix to download the Recovery Console.
  • Accept the End-User License Agreement.
  • The Recovery Console will be installed.
  • You will then get this next prompt that asks if you want to continue the malware scan, select yes

  • Allow combofix to run
  • Post C:\combofix.txt back here.

    Note:
Do not mouseclick combofix's window whilst it's running. That may cause it to stall.
