Solved Best AntiVirus

Post by restrung on Sat Dec 20, 2008 3:25 pm

I just got a new laptop and I know I immediately need an antivirus software, so I came here because now I can rely on this place (somebody helped me fix my tidserv problem. I definitely thought I was going to be using safe mode on my xp for the rest of my life). So anyways, if any of you can help me pick the best antivirus for my computer that would be great. I have windows vista home premium, if that matters... Thank You!

Avast Home Edition or maybe AVG. Better to chose one antivirus, firewall and anti-spyware. Check this topic

Moved from software.

If you're going for a commercial antivirus, I would recommend Kaspersky or NOD32.

I have used both antiviruses before and both are great. For a free one, I would go for Avast! or Antivir.

I think I am leaning towards NOD32 but is there really a major difference between them? I read somewhere that NOD32 doesn't have antispyware but Kaspersky does, true? If you were to rate each of them 1-10 what would it be?

NOD32 6/10
Kaspersky 9/10

I think Kasypersky is better, but if you want some FREE antivirus software, you should chose Avast

Even though I am using Kaspersky Internet Security, I wouldn't rely on it's built in anti spyware. Somehow, I couldn't find the feature to scan for spyware. So you would have to go for another anti spyware program like Super Antispyware. NOD32 doesn't have a anti spyware scanner included, but ESET Smart Security has it included.

Basically an internet security has a firewall, antivirus, anti spyware and some extra privacy features.

I have heard good things about Kaspersky having a very good engine to disinfect malware instead of just deleting it.

In my opinion Kaspersky is on of the best, but it is really up to you. There is really no such thing as "best". Just surf safe you will be fine with almost any antivirus you use.

After hearing it from you guys and reading reviews on amazon I'm going with Kaspersky. Thanks for both of your help.
