which firewall to choose

Post by suzonka on Sun Dec 14, 2008 3:10 pm

I have a dell computer that came with CA security center with its firewall and I also have windows vista with windows defender and windows firewall. OK they both work but I cant use both ,I have been using the CA firewall ,however whenever I want to do windows update I must turn off the CA firewall and the windows firewall takes over and it updates, my question is should I leave my windows firewall on or change it back to the CA firewall? Which firewall will give me more system protection? and doing so I will leave the CA protection on for the Anti Virus protection :hmm:

My suggetsion.

Install this programs :
Avast Home
Malwarebytes Anti-Malware
Comodo Firewall

I think you will be clear and safe for some 3 years, if you use regular virus database update.

Using any professional firewall would be good enough to protect you.
Windows firewall might not be as good as CA if you consider that Microsoft does not actually specialise in firewall whereas CA does.
I also recomend ESET Smart Security. I've been using it for about a year and I've not be infected once.
