Solved Trojan.Zlob.G --- This weekends biggest pain!

Post by unclecaintoad on 8th December 2008, 11:32 am

So it seems I'm nothing special when it comes to having this trojan.zlob.g. Anyway, my problem seems to be what just about everyone else is having. This pops up about every 15 minutes:
"Security center alert
Do you want to block this suspicious software?
Name: Trojan.Zlob.G
Risk Level: High
Description: Trojan.Zlob.G is a trojan program that records keystrokes and takes screen shots of the computer, stealing personal and financial information."

I ran a complete Norton 360 scan which found nothing.

my info:

Hello.

Please download LSPfix from here:
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
Unzip it to the desktop and run it. Check "I know what I'm doing", and then select each instance of "ghkl.dll" in the left-hand panel and click >> to move it to the right-hand panel. Then click Finish to allow LSPfix to rebuild the LSP chain.

Please post back once done.

Okay. Downloaded and followed what you asked. Only one ghkl.dll was listed an it was already in the remove column. The problem is still there.. although I think you probably knew that.

Solved Re: Trojan.Zlob.G --- This weekends biggest pain!

Post by Belahzur on 8th December 2008, 2:44 pm

Yep, I just wanted rid of that file as it could of broken your internet access.
Now we can get rid of the file causing the problem.

  • Now open a new notepad file.
  • Input this into the notepad file:

    regedit /e peek1.txt "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run"
    type peek1.txt >> look.txt
    del peek1.txt
    start notepad look.txt

  • Save this as look.bat, save it to your desktop.
  • Double click look.bat to run it.
  • Post the result back here.

Hello.
Thanks for the nice comments, but we still have some stuff to do.

Your version of Java is outdated and needs to be updated to take advantage of fixes that have eliminated security vulnerabilities.
Updating Java:

  • Download the latest version of [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.].
  • Select the first option where it says "Java SE Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 Update 11".
  • Click the "Download" button to the right.
  • In the Window that opens, select your platform and language, check the "agree" box, and click Continue.
  • Click on the link to download Windows Offline Installation and save to your desktop.
  • Close any programs you may have running - especially your web browser.
  • Go to Start > Control Panel double-click on Add or Remove Programs and remove all older versions of Java.
  • Check any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE or J2SE) in the name.
    - Examples of older versions in Add or Remove Programs:
    - Java 2 Runtime Environment, SE v1.4.2
    - J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0
    - J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 2
  • Click the Remove or Change/Remove button.
  • Repeat as many times as necessary to remove each Java versions.
  • Reboot your computer once all Java components are removed.
  • Then from your desktop double-click on jre-6u11-windows-i586-p.exe that you downloaded to install the newest version.
Please make sure the new version of Java is installed before you run JavaRa.

Please download JavaRa from [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

  • First, unzip it.
  • Then run JavaRa.
  • Select English from the drop down menu and press Select.
  • This will open JavaRa.
  • Press Remove older versions
  • Press yes to the prompt.
  • It will make a log file of what it's removed.
  • Copy and paste the log back here.
