Solved HELP I HAVE Trojan.Zlob.G

Post by HELPME on Sun Dec 07, 2008 9:37 pm

I have it...just like a lot of others....I don't know how or why but I need to get rid of it ASAP. Symptoms: The security center alert warning pops up every few minutes and Firefox crashed twice...My computer froze and shut off by itself before and I tried to run a lot of other antivirus programs but they only detect viruses and don't delete them. I also have a few other viruses on my computer too. Below is my Hijack This Log:

Solved Re: HELP I HAVE Trojan.Zlob.G

Post by Belahzur on Sun Dec 07, 2008 10:44 pm

Now open a new notepad file.
Input this into the notepad file:

Driver::
nsmss
df_kmd

File::
c:\windows\SYSTEM32\?ttrib.exe

Registry::
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]
"98D0CE0C16B1"=-
[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\SafeBoot\Minimal\df_kmd.sys]

Save this as CFScript.txt, save it to your desktop also.
Then drag and drop CFScript.txt into combofix as seen below:

This will open combofix.exe again, agree to it's terms and allow it to run, it may want to reboot after it's done. Post the resulting log back here.

Solved Re: HELP I HAVE Trojan.Zlob.G

Post by HELPME on Sun Dec 07, 2008 11:25 pm

Wow...You're a genius.... I still have a number of questions though

1. How did I get this virus? Downloading to many things?
2. Are all the viruses on my computer gone or just the Trojan?
3. Do you have any way to tell if anything was stolen from my computer?
4. What can I do to prevent things like this from happening? What's the best (free) program I can use to protect myself from viruses?

Sorry that I have a lot of questions, my computer skills are really lacking. But thanks for all the help, you rock!

1. No idea.
2. All should be gone.
3. Nothing was stolen, this trojan isn't backdoor.
4. I will post some tips soon, but first we need to update Java.

Your version of Java is outdated and needs to be updated to take advantage of fixes that have eliminated security vulnerabilities.
Updating Java:

  • Download the latest version of [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.].
  • Select the first option where it says "Java SE Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 Update 11".
  • Click the "Download" button to the right.
  • In the Window that opens, select your platform and language, check the "agree" box, and click Continue.
  • Click on the link to download Windows Offline Installation and save to your desktop.
  • Close any programs you may have running - especially your web browser.
  • Go to Start > Control Panel double-click on Add or Remove Programs and remove all older versions of Java.
  • Check any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE or J2SE) in the name.
    - Examples of older versions in Add or Remove Programs:
    - Java 2 Runtime Environment, SE v1.4.2
    - J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0
    - J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 2

While your uninstalling old version of Java, uninstall these items too:
    Viewpoint Media Player
    WildTangent Web Driver

  • Click the Remove or Change/Remove button.
  • Repeat as many times as necessary to remove each Java versions.
  • Reboot your computer once all Java components are removed.
  • Then from your desktop double-click on jre-6u11-windows-i586-p.exe that you downloaded to install the newest version.
Please make sure the new version of Java is installed before you run JavaRa.

Please download JavaRa from [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

  • First, unzip it.
  • Then run JavaRa.
  • Select English from the drop down menu and press Select.
  • This will open JavaRa.
  • Press Remove older versions
  • Press yes to the prompt.
  • It will make a log file of what it's removed.
  • Copy and paste the log back here.

Oh and one more...(sorry)

I downloaded a ton of programs to try and get rid of this thing...Avast, SUPERAntiSpyware, SpyBot, Malwarebytes' Anti Malware....

Should I get rid of them since they did not help me? And what about ComboFix and HiJackThis? Should those be uninstalled too?

You could get rid of Spybot, but SAS/MBAM both do an awesome job.

You can delete HJT and combofix. Smile

4. Click Yes when you receive the prompt to the turn off System Restore.

Now we need to make a new restore point.
To turn on System Restore, follow these steps:
1. Click Start, right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.
2. Click the System Restore tab.
3. Click the Turn off System Restore check box (To turn on System Restore), and then click OK.

Below I have included a number of recommendations for how to protect your computer in order to prevent future malware infections. Please take these recommendations seriously; these few simple steps can stave off the vast majority of spyware problems. As happy as we are to help you, for your sake we would rather not have repeat customers. Goofy

1) Please navigate to [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] and download all the "critical updates" for Windows. This can patch many of the security holes through which attackers can gain access to your computer.

Please either enable Automatic Updates under Start -> Control Panel -> Automatic Updates , or get into the habit of checking for Windows updates regularly. I cannot stress enough how important this is.

2) In order to protect yourself against spyware, you should consider installing and running the following free programs:

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
A tutorial on using Ad-Aware to remove spyware from your computer may be found [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.].

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
A tutorial on using Spybot to remove spyware from your computer may be found [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]. Please also remember to enable Spybot's "Immunize" and "TeaTimer" features.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
A tutorial on using SpywareBlaster to prevent spyware from ever installing on your computer may be found [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.].

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
A tutorial on using SpywareGuard for realtime protection against spyware and hijackers may be found [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.].

Make sure to keep these programs up-to-date and to run them regularly, as this can prevent a great deal of spyware hassle.

3) Please consider using an alternate browser. Mozilla's Firefox browser is fantastic; it is much more secure than Internet Explorer, immune to almost all known browser hijackers, and also has the best built-in popup blocker (as an added benefit!) that I have ever seen. If you are interested, Firefox may be downloaded from here:
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
I also recommand the following add-ons for Firefox, they will help keep you safe from malicious scripts or activeX exploits.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

4) Also make sure to run your antivirus software regularly, and to keep it up-to-date.

5) Finally, consider maintaining a firewall. Some good free firewalls are [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.], or

A tutorial on understanding and using firewalls may be found [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.].

Hopefully this should take care of your problems! Good luck. Big Grin

Solved Re: HELP I HAVE Trojan.Zlob.G

Post by Belahzur on Mon Dec 08, 2008 12:25 am

Okay, the line I was looking for isn't there.
I'd probably leave it now, the folder is gone and it isn't on the system anymore.

  • Open HijackThis
  • Choose "Do a system scan only"
  • Check the boxes in front of these lines:

    O2 - BHO: REALBAR - {4E7BD74F-2B8D-469E-C0FF-FD60B590A87D} - C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\Real\Toolbar\RealBar.dll (file missing)
    O9 - Extra button: (no name) - {CD67F990-D8E9-11d2-98FE-00C0F0318AFE} - (no file)
    O23 - Service: AOL Spyware Protection Service (AOLService) - Unknown owner - C:\Program Files\Common Files\AOL\AOL Spyware Protection\\aolserv.exe (file missing)

  • Press "Fix Checked"
  • Close Hijack This.

How's the machine now?

Solved Re: HELP I HAVE Trojan.Zlob.G

Post by HELPME on Mon Dec 08, 2008 12:37 am

Good, except I just noticed something strange. When I go into the Control Panel and put it on Classic view I see the "Web Driver Control Panel". I guess I should just ignore it like you said.

One more question (lol sorry for taking up so much of your time, but I am just making sure)Windows Security Alerts asks me if "I have an AntiVirus program that I'll monitor myself" I should check that box right? Because I have SUPERAnitSpyware but I thought that just scans my computer fro viruses and doesn't stop them. I also have Microsoft Windows Malicious Software removal tool, do I really need that since I have SAS?

Once again, thanks for all your help Big Grin

SAS is only an anti-spyware.
You NEED and anti-virus.

You aren't running Anti Virus Software

Anti-virus software are programs that detect, cleanse, and erase harmful virus files on a computer, Web server, or network.
Unchecked, virus files can unintentionally be forwarded to others, including trading partners and thereby spreading infection. Because new viruses regularly emerge, anti-virus software should be updated frequently. Anti-virus software can scan the computer memory and disk drives for malicious code. They can alert the user if a virus is present, and will clean, delete (or quarantine) infected files or directories. Please download a free anti-virus software (for personal use), from one these excellent vendors NOW:

1) [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
-Free anti-virus software for Windows.
-Detects and removes more than 50,000 viruses. Free support.
2) [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
-Anti-virus program for Windows.
-The home edition is freeware for noncommercial user.
3) [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
- Free edition of the AVG anti-virus program for Windows.
- Available for single computer use for home and non commercial use.

It is strongly recommended that you run only one antivirus program at a time. Having more than one antivirus program active in memory uses additional resources and can result in program conflicts and false virus alerts.
