Solved spyware. Ispynow

Post by neonnumber on Mon Dec 01, 2008 3:23 pm

I have been dealing with this virus for about 4 days. I have finally been able to run Malware, Spybot and HijackThis after renaming the files. However, Malware and Spybot do not erase the virus even when they find it After I restart, the same Windows Security Center window pops up that says I have a high risk spyware issue. It used to pop up every 15 min, but I tried ending the program through Task Manager, and that seems to stop the window from popping up until I reboot. And, I can now, after looking through many forums and blogs for suggestions, run any program without having to rename it. However, Malware and Spybot still find the same Trojan.agent each time, no matter what. Please help!!!!! I'm one step away from reformatting!
Here is my hijack this log:

Solved Re: spyware. Ispynow

Post by Belahzur on Mon Dec 01, 2008 3:40 pm

Since you already have MBAM, lets start there.

  • Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
  • The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart. (See Note)
  • The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
Note:
If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts.
Click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process.
If asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately.

Post the contents of the MBAM Log with a fresh copy of HijackThis log.

Solved Re: spyware. Ispynow

Well, after I restart when Malware tells me to, the security window still comes up after the restart and, then I run Malware and they find those same 4 Trojan.Agents each time, even if I remove them.

Solved Re: spyware. Ispynow

Okay, we need to go deeper.

  • Download combofix from here, use the top links - [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
  • Double click on ComboFix.exe.
  • Follow the prompts. NOTE:
  • ComboFix will check to see if the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed.
***It's strongly recommended to have the Recovery Console installed before doing any malware removal.***

**Please note: If the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is already installed, ComboFix will automatically proceed with its scan.

  • The Recovery Console provides a recovery/repair mode should a problem occur during a Combofix run.

  • Allow ComboFix to download the Recovery Console.
  • Accept the End-User License Agreement.
  • The Recovery Console will be installed.
  • You will this next prompt that asks if you want to continue the malware scan, select yes

  • Allow combofix to run
  • Post C:\combofix.txt back here.

    Note:
Do not mouseclick combofix's window whilst it's running. That may cause it to stall.

I can't get access to any site that can get me combo fix on my computer. I guess I was wrong in saying I could get any program to work.
Suggestions?

Solved Re: spyware. Ispynow

Post by Belahzur on Mon Dec 01, 2008 8:12 pm

Yeah, the tdssserv rootkit.

1. Please download The Avenger by Swandog46 to your Desktop
Link: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.].

  • Click on Avenger.zip to open the file
  • Extract avenger.exe to your desktop
2. Copy all the text contained in the code box below to your Clipboard by highlighting it and pressing (Ctrl+C):

Folders to delete:
C:\Program Files\Viewpoint

Note: the above code was created specifically for this user. If you are not this user, do NOT follow these directions as they could damage the workings of your system.

3. Now, start The Avenger program by clicking on its icon on your desktop.

  • Under "Input script here:", paste in the script from the quote box above.
  • Leave the ticked box "Scan for rootkit" ticked.
  • Don't tick the box below.
  • Now click on the Execute to begin execution of the script.
  • Answer "Yes" twice when prompted.

The Avenger will automatically do the following:

  • It will Restart your computer.
  • On reboot, it will briefly open a black command window on your desktop, this is normal.
  • After the restart, it creates a log file that should open with the results of Avengerís actions. This log file will be located at C:\avenger.txt
  • The Avenger will also have backed up all the files, etc., that you asked it to delete, and will have zipped them and moved the zip archives to C:\avenger\backup.zip.
5. Please copy/paste the content of c:\avenger.txt into your reply.

Solved Re: spyware. Ispynow

Hello.
I need you to create a dummy file on your C drive.
Press Start > open "My Computer", then open the C drive.
Right click anywhere on in the C drive window and open the "New" menu.
Make a new Text Document, and save it as test.txt.
Now we will have the avenger delete the dummy file, but it will also show if the tdssserv rootkit is present.

2. Copy all the text contained in the code box below to your Clipboard by highlighting it and pressing (Ctrl+C):

Files to delete:
C:\test.txt

Note: the above code was created specifically for this user. If you are not this user, do NOT follow these directions as they could damage the workings of your system.

3. Now, start The Avenger program by clicking on its icon on your desktop.

  • Under "Input script here:", paste in the script from the quote box above.
  • Leave the ticked box "Scan for rootkit" ticked.
  • Don't tick the box below.
  • Now click on the Execute to begin execution of the script.
  • Answer "Yes" twice when prompted.

Solved Re: spyware. Ispynow

Post by Belahzur on Tue Dec 02, 2008 3:02 pm

Hello.
Just two leftovers services to get rid of.

Now open a new notepad file.
Input this into the notepad file:

Driver::
gjynm
Viewpoint Manager Service

DirLook::
c:\program files\alkjdkljdkljeklje789
c:\program files\akjsalkjdjd456
c:\program files\aksdjfl;kadsjlksjdfasdfdd123

Save this as CFScript.txt, save it to your desktop also.
Then drag and drop CFScript.txt into combofix as seen below:

This will open combofix.exe again, agree to it's terms and allow it to run, it may want to reboot after it's done. Post the resulting log back here.

Solved Re: spyware. Ispynow

Post by Belahzur on Tue Dec 02, 2008 4:48 pm

Hello.
No, sorry, that isn't it.
The log normally displays Command switches used:: if we used a special way of running combofix.
After you made the CFScript file, did you drag it and drop it on combofix, because it looks like you made the txt file, but then just double clicked it to run it.
