For average uses, good. For gaming, not that good.

I wouldn't go for a laptop if it were for gaming, I would pick a desktop with a good graphics card. Maybe some where around the nvidia 8600gt series where it would fit your budget. Desktops are also generally cheaper.

I was just asking. Smile

But I only play a couple online FPS games that my old computer can play. Plus, say I want to put a new RAM/memory chip in a labtop, where do I have to open it up? D

Yeah, most online games would support accelerated graphics, but if you want to take it to the next level, it might not work.

What's the model of your laptop? I'll see if I can find an illustration for you, it is usually located at the center of the laptop's underneath.

Any suggestions of updates for the future? Just asking Big Grin

It's not made anymore but I went to http://www.crucial.com and found two chips.

Windows XP Home Edition
Product: Presario V5000

Do you need any more information on it?

Nah, that's enough.

Ok, here are the instructions taken from the manual.

1. Shut down the computer. (If you are not sure whether the computer is off or in hibernation, turn
the computer on by pressing the power button. Then shut down the computer through the
operating system.)
2. Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.
3. Disconnect the power cord.
4. Turn the computer upside down.
5. Remove the battery pack from the computer.
6. Loosen the 2 memory module compartment cover screws (1).
7. Lift the memory module compartment cover (2) away from the computer.

8. To remove a memory module:
    a. Pull away the retention clips (1) on each side of the memory module . (The memory
    module tilts up.)
    b. Grasp the edge of the memory module (2) and gently pull the module out of the memory
module slot. (To protect a memory module after removal, place it in an electrostatic-safe
    container.)

9. To insert a memory module:
    a. Align the notched edge (1) of the memory module with the tab in the memory module slot.
    b. With the memory module at a 45-degree angle from the surface of the memory module compartment, press the module (2) into the memory module slot until it is seated.
    c. Press the memory module (3) down until the retention clips snap into place.

I did a little research for you and your laptop only supports up to 2GB of RAM.

Thank you very much Big Grin

Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.

You are talking about anything that's connected to the USB area, etc..?
