Solved Unfortunately another Backdoor.Tideserv!inf

Post by typespirit on 26th November 2008, 2:25 am

Unfortunately another one, let me first start off by saying I caught it yesterday, and it messed up my search engine searches; every link directs to some bogus site. Scanned with Norton, failed to remove. I read somewhere online to use Malwarebyte Anti-Malware, it detected 5 trojans and i removed them all. Seemed to fix my search engine problem, but I ran norton again and it was still there. It is really bugging me! I appreciate any help

Hello. Your log shows signs of malware, so lets get started.

  • Download combofix from here, use the top links - [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
  • Double click on ComboFix.exe.
  • Follow the prompts. NOTE:
  • ComboFix will check to see if the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed.
    ***It's strongly recommended to have the Recovery Console installed before doing any malware removal.***

    **Please note: If the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is already installed, ComboFix will automatically proceed with its scan.

  • The Recovery Console provides a recovery/repair mode should a problem occur during a Combofix run.

  • Allow ComboFix to download the Recovery Console.
  • Accept the End-User License Agreement.
  • The Recovery Console will be installed.
  • You will this next prompt that asks if you want to continue the malware scan, select yes

  • Allow combofix to run
  • Post C:\combofix.txt back here.

    Note:
    Do not mouseclick combofix's window whilst it's running. That may cause it to stall.

I will review it in the morning. Smile

Solved Re: Unfortunately another Backdoor.Tideserv!inf

Post by Belahzur on 26th November 2008, 1:44 pm

Nearly there, keep going.

Now open a new notepad file.
Input this into the notepad file:

File::
c:\windows\system32\drivers\ndisprot.sys
c:\windows\Internet Logs\xDB4.tmp
C:\WINDOWS\Temp\tempo-13.tmp
C:\WINDOWS\Temp\tempo-45B.tmp
C:\WINDOWS\Temp\tempo-CF9.tmp
C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\components\iamfamous.dll

Folder::
C:\resycled
c:\program files\WildTangent

Registry::
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\System]
"kdejs.exe"=-
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced]
"StartMenuLogOff"=-
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters\Interfaces\{de72b7b5-3079-444c-9339-0692fe2c2b0d}]
"NameServer"=-
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet002\Services\Tcpip\Parameters\Interfaces\{de72b7b5-3079-444c-9339-0692fe2c2b0d}]
"NameServer"=-
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet003\Services\Tcpip\Parameters\Interfaces\{de72b7b5-3079-444c-9339-0692fe2c2b0d}]
"NameServer"=-
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]
"WildTangent CDA"=-

Save this as CFScript.txt, save it to your desktop also.
Then drag and drop CFScript.txt into combofix as seen below:

This will open combofix.exe again, agree to it's terms and allow it to run, it may want to reboot after it's done. Post the resulting log back here.

actually, not much to be honest! I will run another Norton scan to see if the Backdoor.Tideserv!inf is still there. The computer seems to be running pretty well now! I did a quick scan on the two locations of where i found the 2 trojans seem to have disappeared, if I see it again I will post again, but for the time being Thank You! Thank You! !!

you really helped a bunch!
