Post by katiea on 25th November 2008, 4:28 pm

Someone help me please! We got a new computer just a couple of months ago and now it is not working! It all started yesterday. First we got a message from norton saying it detected a virus then it scanned it and stated the problem was fixed. Not even 5 minutes later we got a message from HP to update. We went through all of steps. well as it was doing this the computer froze! I couldn't pop up task manger or even turn it off! Finally this morning it was still froze and we decided to unplugg it and plugg it back in. Now it's just making a beeping noise! Obviously I'm writting this from a differnet computer someone PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How many beeps are there? For exmaple, 1 long, 2 short? Or 1 long beep all the way?

Uninstall Norton and do a full system scan using this: http://www.eset.com/onlinescan/ Then, check the types of software that you have. Are there some that tweak your graphics card performance?Uninstall them(if any)Then roll back your drivers to their default state, read this: http://searchwindowsserver.techtarget.com/tip/0,289483,sid68_gci1283832,00.html You could also try a system restore if the problem persists. If these do not work for you,I'm afraid that your computer might be having some hardware problem and needs servicing.
