Solved Re: Wanna Make sure It's OK

Post by Belahzur on Tue Oct 28, 2008 4:44 pm

Hello Sir $wat. Smile

All looks clean to me.
I see Symantec (or Norton as it's better known) AND Avira. Running two AV's is a bad idea. They conflict and can cause problems. (besides the fact Norton is just a resource hog LMBO or ROFL )

Open a new notepad file.
Input this into the notepad file:

@echo off
sc stop "LiveUpdate Notice Ex"
sc stop "LiveUpdate Notice Service"
sc delete "LiveUpdate Notice Ex"
sc delete "LiveUpdate Notice Service"
del fixservices.bat
exit

Save this as fixservices.bat, save it to your desktop.
Double click fixservices.bat and the black cmd window will open and close, this is normal.

Delete this folder in bold:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared

Also, just a leftover I forgot.

  • Now open a new notepad file.
  • Input this into the notepad file:

    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]
    "Symantec PIF AlertEng"=-

  • Save this as fix.reg, save it to your desktop.
  • Double click fix.reg to run it.
  • Select yes to the registry merge prompt.

Delete fix.reg after you've run it.

[If the Symantec folder won't go away, reboot and try again, it should this time]
