Hello, and welcome to GeekPolice!

I'm AndroidOS, and I will be helping you with the Malware removal process. Please note, this may or may not solve other issues you’re having with your PC.

Before we begin:

Please Subscribe to this Thread to get immediate notification of replies as soon as they are posted. This is set as the default, but if for any reason you changed your settings you can change it by clicking on the Watch Thread button at the top right of this page.

In the meantime please note the following:

  • Any recommendations made are for the computer that this thread relates to, and should NOT be used on any other computer.
    Please DO NOT run any scans/tools or other fixes unless I ask you to. This is very important for several reasons. Here are just a couple of them:
    1. The tools that we use are very powerful and can cause irreparable damage to your computer if not used correctly.
    2. Commercial scanners, for the most part, do not completely remove some of the more "resistant" infections. This makes it much more difficult to get rid of completely.
  • If you get stuck or are unsure of something please ask for a further explanation, do not guess.
  • It may require more than one round to properly clean your system. Continue to respond to this thread until I give you the All Clear. even if symptoms seemingly abate.
  • Malware Removal threads are very time intensive. Each entry must be researched until it can be said with 100% certainty whether or not it can stay or needs to be removed. Sometimes additional work is needed to weed out suspect entries.
  • We are all volunteer staff here so we log in and assess threads when real life, work, family, and other obligations permit. Additionally, we are located all over the world. There may be a bit of a time delay due to this.
  • This may turn into a long ordeal but, rest assured we will stay with you until you are completely disinfected and protected against further attacks.

One final thing before we begin, I recommend that you back up all the important and personal data on your computer to safeguard it. Removing Malware is a potentially hazardous undertaking. Although I will take care not to knowingly suggest courses of action that might damage your computer, it is impossible for me to predict all interactions that may happen between the software on your computer and those we'll use to clear your infection, and I cannot guarantee the safety of your system. It is possible that we might encounter infections where the only recourse is to re-format and re-install your operating system.

==========

Now that all of that is out of the way...

Please download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware from here.
Alternate link: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

(Note: if you already have the program installed, just follow the directions. No need to re-download or re-install!)

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.

(Note: if you already have the program installed, open Malwarebytes from the Start Menu or Desktop shortcut, click the Update tab, and click Check for Updates, before doing the scan as instructed below!)

  • Open up Malwarebytes Anti-Malware
  • Once the program has loaded, select "Scan Now".
  • If prompted to update the malware definitions, do so by clicking Update Now.
  • The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
  • If the scan finds threats, ensure all items are set to Quarantine, click the "Apply Actions" button and then restart the machine (if required).
  • Once the scan is complete, click Export Log > Text File (*.txt) and save the file to your desktop.
  • Copy and paste the contents of this log in your next post.

If Malwarebytes fails to download please use the following link:

==========

Please download AdwCleaner by Xplode onto your desktop.

  • Double click on AdwCleaner.exe to run the tool.
  • Click on Search.
  • A logfile will automatically open after the scan has finished.
  • Please post the content of that logfile with your next answer.
  • You can find the logfile at C:\AdwCleaner[R0].txt as well.

==========

Download OTL.exe by OldTimer to your Desktop.

  • Close all windows and double click OTL.exe.
  • Click Run Scan and let the program run uninterrupted.
  • It will produce two logs for you, one will pop up - OTL.txt, the other will be saved on your Desktop - Extras.txt. Post both logs in this thread.
  • You may need to use two posts to get it all.

Note: in the event that OTL fails to run, please use one of the alternate download links to try again:

Hi jmasters64,

There doesn't seem to be any log file attached to your post. If you are having problems attaching files, feel free to just copy and paste the logs in your next reply.
