Email spoofed or hacked?

Post by Syztemlord on 3rd February 2015, 11:32 am

Hi,

Recently I seem to have been sending out spam emails.  They are going to contacts and to people not in my contacts list but getting addresses from email I've received (other junk email/offer emails etc).

I've check the properties of one of these emails and it's not originating from my IP.  Has my email been hacked or is it spoofing? I've ran Malwarebytes and Avast but nothing has come up.

Any ideas?

Your e-mail has been hacked. If you get into it, you should change your password.

Hi, thanks for the reply.

Ok, I've formatted my PC and re installed windows and I've changed my email password. I was hoping that would fix everything but I've just received another spam email.

The "from" section of the email says "syztemlord ". I've had a few link this but the email address is always different. It has a some other addresses in the "to" section which appear to be from my contact list or emails I'd previously received.

All that you did will not stop this type of mail. Your email address is out in the digital world and they will keep coming. You should use Mailwasher to filter your e-mail.
