First topic message reminder :

hi there, I can't post an OTL log as it gets so far and freezes it wont complete the scan.

I managed to download malwarebytes and that ran fine with no problems and the scan was clear.

I also downloaded ATF cleaner and freed some space up as the pc is running slow. I downloaded super anti spyware which finds tracking cookies but nothing else. my kaspersky scans wont complete and shows 1 vulnerability with Java.

For the past week I've not been properly able to download windows updates I get error code:"WindowsUpdate_8E5E03FE .

On shut down the pc begins to update then freezes.
I have Re installed all disks etc many times and I can't seem to fix it .
To add this is a brand new desktop pc I was given as a gift for christmas, its a Medion tower, and I am running windows 7 your help is very much appreciated!

Thank you

Then, your computer is back to the day it was purchased and there should be nothing else to do. Just make sure you have a good AV program installed.

ok, but I have tried this numerous times before with discs and I get the problems once I install windows updates. I have not installed windows updates therefore currently no issues. I am using kaspersky 2012 wich installs itself once I recover the pc.. what do you recommend I install instead.

thanks

If your subscription for Kas is still active I would recommend that you re-install it. Then, try your updates.

I wasn't too keen on downloading that again as it didnt detect any problems before .. so I have Avast now with a free trial of more security features.

thank you
