CONNOT REREGISTER Mshtml.dll

Post by Ubangy on Thu 21 Jun - 16:49

After a week long battle with a nasty trojan rogue anti-malware P.O.S. and all its effects and pieces using the anti-malware forum I am left with one issue unresolved. hyperlinks in e-mail would not work. it was recommended that i re-register 6 DLL files.

I re-registered 5 out of 6 DLL files ...BUT for one I get an error message that reads: "Mshtml.dll was loaded but, the Dllregisterserver entry point was not found. This file cannot be registered."

How can I fix this?

Chris

What happens when you go to http://update.microsoft.com ? Let me know about that so we can move on with diagnosis of the underlying issue.

Don't mean for the delay, weekends are a bit tough to get work done. Got lots of family wanting my time on weekends.

I want to take a closer look at your system, please.

Please download the latest version of Kaspersky GetSystemInfo (GSI) from Kaspersky and save it to your Desktop.

Note: please close all other applications running on your system.

Double click GetSystemInfo.exe to open it. It will display an agreement. Click on I Agree to continue.

Click the Settings button.

Set the slider to Maximum.

IMPORTANT! Then, click Customize - choose Driver / Ports tab and uncheck Scan Ports.

On the General tab, make sure all of the boxes are checked.

On the Misc tab, make sure all the checkboxes are checked.

Then, click OK on the windows that you launched.

Click Create Report to run it.

It will begin scanning.

It will create a zip folder called GetSystemInfo_XXXXXXXXXXXXXX.zip on your Desktop.

It should automatically upload it to http://www.getsysteminfo.com. If it does not, then please submit it manually by going to the site and doing the upload process.

It will redirect to a page, where it will provide a sharing URL for specialists. Copy and paste the url of the GSI Parser report in your next reply.

Visit this page and hit the big green "Run now" button: http://support.microsoft.com/mats/windows_update/

We've got more options to try, but go ahead and see if this works out. (Try to run updates after doing the Microsoft Fix-it.)

Fixing the update issue
  1. Create a new System Restore Point
  2. Close all programs, as this method will automatically shut down the computer.
Click on START then click Run and copy & paste the following entry into the box and click OK
    Code:
    CMD /C ECHO Y|CHKDSK C: /R | SHUTDOWN /R /T 30
    • Download and install CCleaner
    • CCleaner
    • Double-click on the downloaded file "ccsetup229_slim.exe" and install the application.
    • Keep the default installation folder "C:\Program Files\CCleaner"
    • Click finish when done and close ALL PROGRAMS including your Web Browser
    • Start the CCleaner program.
    • Click on Registry and Uncheck Registry Integrity so that it does not run (basically the very top, uncheck it)
    • Click on Options - Advanced and Uncheck "Only delete files in Windows Temp folders older than 48 hours"
    • Click back to Cleaner and under SYSTEM uncheck the Memory Dumps and Windows Log Files
    • Click on Run Cleaner button on the bottom right side of the program.
    • Click OK to any prompts
    • Close the program now and Restart the computer again

  • Please open Notepad and enter in the following:
    @ECHO OFF

Ok I checked for updates an it is now Version 3.20.1750

"9.Click on Registry and Uncheck Registry Integrity so that it does not run (basically the very top, uncheck it)"

These exact words do not appear as an option so I unchecked all. is this correct? Also nothing is checked under the windows tab of Cleaner and lots are checked in Applications. I dont wish to delete the internet and dowload histories. Is this ok?

I dont want to proceed until i am clear on this.

    Thank you
