Avg Secure Search

Post by jakesdad on 22nd April 2012, 12:42 pm

I can't get rid of this thing, and I didn't ask for it, and I haven't used Avg. in months. Is it malware? Is there a fix? Any help appreciated.

AVG can be removed completely by running one of the following:

(If the link does not load the file downloads in a reasonable time, then press the Skip button on the top right corner.)

Thanks DMJ, but this didn't do it. Had already tried the remover and still have Avg as my default search in IE. Hasn't affected Firefox yet. Running the remover shows avg.com running endlessly and no change. Never ran into this before. I uninstalled avg over a year ago, and never used their search engine. Popped up last week having hijacked IE. Is there a plan B? Thanks for your help.

Let's try to clean it manually then...

Please visit this webpage for a tutorial on downloading and running ComboFix:

See the area: Using ComboFix, and when done, post the log back here.
