re installed vista now no wireless

i have a older hp dv6324...that is in great shape and it just had virus issues from who i got it from ...so i got a copy of vista and reformat everything and install drivers from hp website and my wireless light stays orange no matter what i do .....i have a usb wireless adapter that i plugged into the laptop and it works great that way but if i unplug it and try to find a network ...it wont work ......was on the net a little before i re installed windows ......now it says " install wireless networking hardware and verify that the correct drivers are loaded"........i have read everywhere and still cant seem to figure this one out ....please help...was told to come here that this site is best with the smartest and most professional users .....thanks
