HELP! Nothing but on D:/ eula.rtf, LocalizedData.xml, SetupResources.dll.

Post by sarahireland on 4th February 2012, 3:58 am

Hey guys,

I have a really annoying issue.

First of all, I installed my Laptop HD into my Desktop PC so that I could get my movie and Music etc off it. BUT, when I opened D Drive, All I can see is many many random numbered folders, with each containing. "eula.rtf" , "LocalizedData.xml" , "SetupResources.dll"! Why can't I see my files on it? I looked that the drives properties and it says theres nothing on the drive... but there should be. Whoa! Afraid

So confused and annoyed. If anyone can help me, that would be awesome.

Cheers,

Sarah. Thank You!

just curious, how did you connect the drive to your desktop?

When the drive is not connected, what drives do you see? Asking because D drive is typically the CD drive.

I'm wondering if you have a password on the laptop drive also.

I just had a look at d drive and it says "Data" even when the lappy HD isn't plugged in. so yea i suppose the lappy hard drive wasn't that after all.

I just plugged the HD in like an ordinary hard drive... with a sata cable into the mother board etc.

Maybe i was doing something wrong?

laptop did have a password on it.

yeah - you did something wrong. The hard drive was not recognized. There are two cables required to connect the hard drive to your computer. One is for data, the other is for power. Make sure both are connected.

The little red sata cable is plugged into the mother board, right under where my main HD is plugged into. and then theres a black clippy plug thing thats attached to the power supply plugged into the HD too.

I realize this thread is over a year old, but what happened with the hard drive Sara? Was it ok when you put it back in the laptop?

My wife's laptop wouldn't boot, so I put the hard drive in an enclosure as you said you would, and I am reading exactly the same thing.

If you or I had done something wrong, we wouldn't be reading any files. If it was corrupted it should be random gibberish, garbage. But there is a directory tree structure and there are coherent, legible files, like those eula.rtf LocalizedData.xml and SetupResources.dll over and over in numbered folders. There is an explanation for this.
