Let's do it another way.
We need to repair the nbtstat.exe file in your system using your XP CD.

  • 1. Insert your Windows XP CD into the CD Drive.
Don't do anything with it yet.
  • 2. Click Start
  • 3. Click Run
  • 4. Click on the cmd
  • 5. Insert the following command in the Black box that will appear:
    expand d:\i386\nbtstat.exe_ c:\windows\system32\nbtstat.exe
If d: is not your CD Drive, Please change the letter.

Make sure you have a space between _ c:\

Yes. You'er last set of instuctions didn't work. And now I am trying to get Windows Updates and it tells me that I have to install SP3 befor I can get the updates. Everything on my computer tells me that I have SP3. I can't even remove it from the add/remove program, because it says that there is no file. I have tryed 3 times to download it from a CD and after more then an hour of downloading, it stops installing, and when I use the task manager it show that it is "not resdonding". Is this part of the i386 program?

I made a mistake.
We need to make the following change in the command:

  • 1. Insert your Windows XP CD into the CD Drive.
Don't do anything with it yet.
  • 2. Click Start
  • 3. Click Run
  • 4. Click on the cmd
  • 5. Insert the following command in the Black box that will appear:
    expand d:\i386\nbtstat.ex_ c:\windows\system32\nbtstat.ex

If d: is not your CD Drive, Please change the letter.

Make sure you have a space between _ c:\

After inputting the command I get; 7534 bytes expanded to 20480 bytes, 17% increase. Then nothing else happens. Was this what you needed?

Once more and we should get it replaced.

  • 1. Insert your Windows XP CD into the CD Drive.
Don't do anything with it yet.
  • 2. Click Start
  • 3. Click Run
  • 4. Click on the cmd
  • 5. Insert the following command in the Black box that will appear:
    expand d:\i386\nbtstat.ex_ c:\windows\system32\nbtstat.ex

If d: is not your CD Drive, Please change the letter.
