Solved Windows 7 Custom Toolbar slow to display contents

Post by Grouch on Sat Nov 05, 2011 7:23 pm

I have added a 'Custom Toolbar' to my taskbar containing shortcuts to my frequently used apps. When I click on it, it takes around 5 seconds for it to display the contents. Is this normal? I get the same behavior on all 3 PC's. Is there a registry tweak that will speed up the display other than 'MenuShowDelay'?

Thanks,
Grouch

From reviewing your system specifications and that your toolbar consists of applications, this is normal. Your computing power is slow, especially when Windows have many features to run with your toolbar. Your processor speed is 2.2ghz and that is a big factor as to why it would be slow. If you'd like i can give you instructions as to how to disable some windows features that is not essential to Windows

I finally tracked down the culprit. After I uninstalled "Microsoft Security Essentials" and installed "BitDefender Internet Security 2012", the problem went away.

Now I'm back to the quick response I was used to. Thank You!

Thanks,
Grouch
