scc.exe

Post by stinits on 5th September 2011, 11:59 am

Have recently been getting an scc.exe error message that makes reference to the system clock and the need to contact the author for instructions. Any advice on the best approach to take, and whether to respond to instructions offered via a phone call from the supposed 'Windows Service Centre' that I suspect is related to this error message?

Which operating system?

Goto Start menu and to your run command and type in sfc /scannow to repair the file, it will check all Windows systems files and fix , you might need the Windows DVD\CD

If you cannot find run command go to start accessories and black box called command.exe and open it or a dos prompt then type in sfc /scannow. It will do the same thing as the above.

Let us now what happend. Good Luck

Thanks for the quick response. Using XP Home. I ran sfc/scannow and although it seems to have improved the computer speed the scc.exe message still comes up when starting.

Out of interest I have since learnt that the telephone trick is a known hoax attempt to get you to inadvertently enable the baddies access to your computer.

I now intend to download free AdAware security. Will keep posted.

Thanks again for help thus far.
