Computer Freezes - no specific error msg sorry

Post by Ashton ClouD on Fri 05 Aug 2011, 4:29 pm

First topic message reminder :

I have previously posted in operating problems, but they feel it is a malware issue. I am helping out a friend running Vista on a Dell. The computer will freeze if you try to download or run any large programs such as window upgrades or even just trying to install avg or run a scan. It has come up with the blue screen with the disc read error or has a black screen saying there are inconsistencies with the discs and tries to run a check.

I had to run otl while in safe mode or it would just freeze.

After many tries I have been able to get Malwarebytes and AVG installed on the computer even though it crashed a million times. Malwarebytes showed no problems during a quick scan(full scan crashes), but avg found a virus as follows:

Trojan Horse Generic21.AIZW under mike/downloads/Video(5)

so... here are the logs that i have compiled:

I downloaded and ran it on his computer. Do you want me to post the log it created on his desktop?

Also, he is still having the same freezing problems. No change there.

Hi,

Please download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware from Here.

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.

  • Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
  • The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart.(See Extra Note)
  • The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
  • Copy&Paste the entire report in your next reply.

Extra Note:
If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts, click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process. If asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately.

I'm livin' life in the fast lane.
