XP rebooting afer powder down

Post by Bigmaico on 23rd July 2011, 2:12 pm

System just started doing this.

Unchecked Under System Failure, the Automatically restart.

Reset the power down after shut down to 1 in the registry.

Not using Roxico software.

Any ideas?

Have you checked event logs for clues to the problem?

Read here on how to get that information.

Checked the event log & found an error for a hardware issue, but all hard is working fine, but I did notice that the cmos battery is from 2005 & & can't get in to the BIOS.

I'm going to change the cmos battery today & see if that fixes anything!

Still can't get into the BIOS after changing the CMOS battery.

Ran AVG,Spybot & Malware bytes all showed no problems.

Don't have any clue where to go now?

What error was in the event log?

What are the specs of the motherboard - CPU - ram - graphics and PSU?

Thanks gang:

I got it fix, took the case off the HP DS7600 to check the hardware out to let Houndmom know what was in the system.

While in there I removed the ram & checked it out, also removed the CMOS battery to check the voltage ( 3.6) it was good, so I put it all back together & booted it up.

Has to reset the BIOS & it seems to be working right now!

Don't know if it was the ram or the BIOS?
