New hard drive-trying to install windows 7 but it keeps freezing

Post by hputerbaugh on Sun 03 Apr 2011, 10:39 pm

I just had to install a new hard drive on my hp desk top and installed windows xp then realized there were no drivers for windows xp for my cp. I then had to install either Vista or Windows 7 to get the drivers from hp website. Every time I try to install windows 7 the screen freezes on me before even half way finished (sometimes way sooner). Any suggestions on what may be wrong? Could it have been more than my hard drive that was messed up in the first place? Windows xp worked fine I just couldn't install drivers. Please help!!!

Hello,

What method are you using to install Windows 7?

If Windows 7 originally comes with your PC, then you could use the DVD provided by HP.
