User32.dll error

Post by chainz on 27th February 2011, 4:03 pm

Last night my pc was working normally. I was doing some drawing in autocad. When I finished the session, I saved all my work and shut down the machine. This morning,I cannot turn the machine on. It goes thru all the usual windows xp startup, then makes a noise like it turned itself off and a blue screen appears with the user32.dll error message. I tried restarting in safe mode and still get the same message. I also tried last known good configuration to no avail. Any direction of what to do next is greatly appreciated.

Hi there!

Follow this article http://support.microsoft.com/kb/142676 method 4 (Use Recovery Console to restore the User32.dll file) (advance) should work for you.

Thanks for your help Capt. Jack. Unfortunately I cant get in thru safe mode or boot from disc. It locks up and then flashes the same error message.

Download http://www.memtest.org/ and burn that to a disk and run a Memory Diagnostic. Run it over night around 7 to 8 passes to we can rule out Hardware issues.
