i just read one thread here. and it mentioned 24GB of RAM. is that possible? O.O

With average motherboards, no.

But yes, it is possible on servers and higher end motherboards.

No, home users also have them.

Mac Pros now offer up to 32GB of RAM. Severs could also use that amount of RAM.
