Hi.

Sorry no. Windows XP can't be upgraded to Windows 7. First you need to upgrade to Windows Vista then Windows 7. Windows 7 needs to salvage Windows features(upgrade them) which Windows XP lacks the majority of that Vista has. You need to purchase the full version to upgrade and do a clean install(completely wipe your drive).

Oh, you're right and I checked and I do have a full windows version and the directions do say to do a clean install from Windows XP. Can I do it in safe mode though?

No. You need restart the computer and press F12 and boot from the dvd drive. Makes sure to backup all your personal files as you'll be erasing your entire hard drive. You'll also need compatible drivers with Windows 7. You can find those on your manufactures website.

No. They are specific to your computer. You'll need to obtain them from your computer manufacture(dell, sony, gateway etc). You may do the installation. Smile

Make sure to backup everything and have all necessary software(drivers and programs used) as you may not have internet access until you install them again.

Are there specific files or directories that I should backup that will save all my drivers....etc? I don't need any of my software or do I need certain programs to run Windows?
