New Computer Case - first time user so idk if this is the right fourm

Post by GForce9000 on Fri Feb 11, 2011 12:15 pm

I have a HP media center, m8300f model.
i got a RAIDMAX Tornado case off newegg, my current desktop has a 80mm rear fan that connects to the motherboard
my new case has a 120mm rear exaust fan that connects through molex, my question is, is there anyway i can disable the exaust fan error in the BIOS? if i disconect the fan from my motherboard it gives me a error, but i specifically bought me a new case for more and bigger fans. i dont want to ruin this desktop its my baby.
i have a Micro-ATX motherboard, 4 PCI, the case i have has 7 but thats ok, it should still line up correctly

System specs:
Windows 7 Ulitimate
Dynex 400w PSU
4GB DDR2 PC2-5300
GForce 9400GT 1gb Dedicated
320GB Hdd + 250GB + external 500gb and 1TB hdd.
Atheros AR5b91 Wireless
Netgear 10/100/1000 ethernet.

any help would be appreciated, my case is set to arrive today. thanks

Hi there. The answer to your question is yes you can disable the error in BIOS. All you need to do is one of the following, disable fan fail alarm or "Smart Fan". I recommend disabling the fan alarm, as you will need the "Smart Fan" feature to control temperatures in your case. Also the case you purchased does support MATX compatability so all is good.

Can u explain what MATX is, i have never upgraded my motherboard, cpu or case or anything, the most ive ever done is hard drives, ram, graphics, pci cards ect. thanks. im lookin to upgrade it today when it arrives, that case should offer bigger and better fans than my current case where everything is crammed together

MATX is Micro Advanced Technology Extended. Its just a smaller version of a regular ATX motherboard with less features.

Thanks, well i dont see nothing in my BIOS to change the fan, so i just hit F2 and continue bootin into windows. my Gforce 9400 drop from 130 degrees base temperature to 114 and my CPU drop some, from 95 to about 87 with Speccy monitoring. the Hard drive is alot cooler since i put primary OS in front of the blue fan for air flow.
