Painfully Slow Computer -XP

Post by SquishedFlat on Tue Feb 01, 2011 5:05 pm

My computer is horribly slow in virtually every aspect. Opening and/or working with any program/function (IE, Firefox, Word, all system accessories like clean disk, defrag, CCleaner, Avira, re-start, even solitaire). Dell desktop with XP.

You guys were fantastic helping me with a rogue security infection a month ago; everything worked great. After that, I loaded Commodo Firewall and JUST before this slowdown, Avira Premium. It took forever, but recently ran Avira scan and Malwarebytes; both negative. Just ran Hijackthis.

Thanks. I re-posted over at malware removal. I posted here because the sticky says to do so, as there are often reasons other than malware that cause slow computers.
