Equalizer needed for Sigmatel audio driver.

Post by Voods on Wed Dec 15, 2010 4:04 pm

Hi

I am using a Dell latitude D600, and I was wondering if there is a equlizer I can use with it. With other computers desktops included, when I install the audio drivers, they usually is an equalizer bundled with it.

When I install the Sigmatel C-Major audio driver, nothing comes with this. I can use an equalizer within a music player, but I would like an all round global one, they usually come with extra options and builit in effects too. For example the Realtek audio driver.

I have searched fruitlessly on the net, and the only option I came across was to modify the ini file, but this was for a different modeled laptop. Also, in the standard windows volume control, in the advance section, the sliders for the treble and bass option are greyed out, so I can't even make those basic changes.

Any information would bemost appreciated.

Regards

Dave

Hi,

Have you tried to install and run Realtek on your Dell laptop ?

Why not use Winamp or similar programs for playing music, they can regulate their sound with their own equalizers ? You could also use Windows Media player equalizer.

The options for treble and bass are grayed because you don't use property set of drivers for Audio. I suggest you to try Realtek Ac'97 or Realtek High Definition Audio Driver.

Regards

I haven't tried the Realtek drivers, will they not conflict or crash my system with the audio being sigmatel?

It's the environmental changes to the sound I want also, not just to change the frequencies/db levels. On using music players, I can do that, but it's not just for playing music I want to make the changes.

I will try and install the realtek drivers then, should I uninstall the Sigmatel one first?

Yes, you should go to Add or Remove Programs and delete Sigmatel driver.

Let me know results.

Seeing as it is mainly a motherboard driver, is there no way just to install th audiodeck component of it?

Oh, than you should keep Sigmatel, download this one :

http://ftp.us.dell.com/audio/R90698.EXE

That is the driver I have installed, and I don't actually have a problem with the sound itself, or the speakers. It is just the extra equalizer I want.

For BSOD message you got in post above install next update from Microsoft Co.
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyId=DD0BBC72-B336-40E1-837E-46D48DCEEE6A&displaylang=en

I research everything about Sigmatel audio driver, and i found that EQ treble and bass can not be enabled. You have to use external sound card if you want to use equalizer, than you'll probably have to install Realtek or some different driver from driver cd that you got with sound card.

Here is some of article i found :
http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/laptop/f/3517/p/18719325/18846365.aspx
http://www.experts-exchange.com/OS/Microsoft_Operating_Systems/Windows/XP/Q_20922648.html

Sad, Sigmatel is not good enough, but your Dell Latitude is one of nicest laptop's in that series.

I happened to find your conversation. I probably have the same Sigmatel board in my Dell Inspiron 9400 notebook. For the equalizer I downloaded the SoundBlaster Audigy Advanced MB Software on 15-11-2006. It worked absolutely perfect. Now I lost it by upgrading to Windows 7. That is why i was searching the Internet to reinstall this software. I write to you to inform you that CREATIVE publishes a page entirely dedicated to the application of this fine software.See the link below. I have not yet finished my problems entirely but like me you will find much interesting stuff here. Hoped to have been of assistance.
