Computer running VERY SLOW & Freezing - 'Internet not responding' messages??

Post by supergirl on Tue 14 Dec 2010, 12:34 pm

Hi,
You guys have helped me in the past and I am hoping you can come through once again My laptop is running very slow, and frequently microsoft pops up to say that the connection has been lost do you want to send error report. My computer freezes in the middle of using it and I frequently have to press ctrl atl delete to bring up the taskbar. It takes FOREVER to even get connected to the internet when I first turn my laptop on. I am not sure what is going on with this machine. Can you help?

Thanks in advance!

Please run OTL.exe.

  • Copy the commands with file paths below to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose Copy):

    :OTL
    [2010/11/13 22:37:23 | 000,000,159 | ---- | C] () -- C:\Users\Wiley\AppData\Roaming\sdghzxfg.bat
    [2010/11/12 06:47:14 | 000,000,006 | ---- | C] () -- C:\Users\Wiley\AppData\Roaming\start
    [2010/11/11 18:31:12 | 000,000,006 | ---- | C] () -- C:\Users\Wiley\AppData\Roaming\completescan
    [2010/11/11 15:25:22 | 000,000,010 | ---- | C] () -- C:\Users\Wiley\AppData\Roaming\install
    [2010/11/11 15:24:05 | 000,000,213 | ---- | C] () -- C:\Users\Wiley\AppData\Roaming\sdfsdfgdsfgh.bat

  • Return to OTL, right click in the "Custom Scans/Fixes" window (under the light green bar) and choose Paste.

  • Click the red Run Fix button.
  • A fix log in Notepad will appear. Copy the contents of the fix log to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose copy), and paste it in your next reply.
  • Close OTL.exe
If a file or folder cannot be moved immediately you may be asked to reboot the machine to finish the move process. If you are asked to reboot the machine choose Yes.

Please download and run this tool.

Download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from Here

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.

  • Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
  • The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart. (See Note)
  • The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
Note:
If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts.
Click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process.
If asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately.

Post the contents of the MBAM Log.

Hello.

Please download ComboFix from BleepingComputer.com

Alternate link: GeeksToGo.com

Rename ComboFix.exe to commy.exe before you save it to your Desktop
  • Disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications, usually via a right click on the System Tray icon. They may otherwise interfere with our tools A guide to do this can be found here
  • Click Start then copy paste the following command into the search box & hit enter: "%userprofile%\desktop\commy.exe" /stepdel
  • As part of it's process, ComboFix will check to see if the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed. This will not install in Vista. Just continue scanning, and skip the console install.
  • When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Please include the contents of C:\ComboFix.txt in your next reply.
