External HDD problem

Could someone help me please? I've used this External HDD as my main storage device and now it requires me to format it to use it again.. however if i were to format it, all my files and info would be deleted.. please help me.. Thank You!

Hi,
Please plug in your External HDD and go to My Computer.


  • Right click on it and go to Properties.

  • Click on Tools tab and you'll see Error-Checking.
  • Click on Check now button.
  • Mark both checkbox inside and click Start

It can't even format.. it says Windows was unable to complete the format.. =X

Try go to Disc Management. Go to Start > Run > type diskmgmt.msc and press Enter.

Now, do not touch your real partition, just go down and you'll see your external HDD, right click on in and set Format > Accept with Yes any prompt you got.
