Security Tool - Help Please?

Post by gnt02 on 12th November 2010, 6:44 am

I have a program that keeps popping up on my computer warning me to buy it called Security Tool. I have tried removing it with several programs but once they download nothing happens. I am running Windows 7 and currently have my computer in safe mode with networking(only because a program called spydoctor recommended me to) I have tried following your instructions and tried to download OTL but it won't let me and keeps saying I can't download it from a temporary folder. I am not really computer literate but I can work things out for myself sometimes which is how I've navigated to this site. Can anyone help please?

Hello.

Download [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] by OldTimer to your Desktop.

  • Close all windows and double click OTL.exe
  • Click Run Scan and let the program run uninterrupted
  • It will produce two logs for you, one will pop up - OTL.txt, the other will be saved on your Desktop - Extras.txt. Post both logs in this thread.
  • You may need to use two posts to get it all.

Are you still with us?

We need to know any other issues that are plaguing your computer. Kindly give a summary so we know how to continue from here.

Many of the things to note for us would be:

  • Slow computer
  • Error messages
  • Fake antivirus alerts or the icon in the system tray
  • svchost.exe running at 100%
  • System crashes or blue screen of death
