win 7 - can't install/enable my Cogeco email account

I have tried 3 different email readers and none of them qualify for the persnickety Win 7 system. I have put in the correct information several times but it just doesn't click. (Firefox, Thunderbird and Window's reader) it has been some time since I tried this so I will go and try it again to provide more info if needed.

I am a technnopeasant at best so replies should be spoken slowly in words of one syllable for me to get it

Note Cogeco is my local internet provider.

I am assuming this is a Win 7 problem.

I got this notice when I tried to install Thunderbird.

I just wanted to add that I was able to send a message from that account to my Yahoo account but I still can't receive email

Update... my computer crashed - happy birthday from Dell.

Now I can't send or receive... still hoping for a suggestion.
