Bankerfox --> Registry Defender malware

Post by vindicatorJMO on Sun Jun 27, 2010 3:26 am

HI,

I picked up this bug, the one that tries to scare you into thinking you are totally infected and to buy their antivirus software, called bankerfox, the other day. It took me a few minutes to figure out that it was blocking me from opening any programs once the computer was up and running so on startup I immediately activated Malaware butes and it it was able to strta up before th bug kicked in and run through finding the attacker and killing them. But the system was completely sluggish afterwards. I have since run several other other malicious software removal tools in it's wake suspecting something is still in there. Today, the system brought up a "registry Defender" outcry and wanted me to down download some kind of software, which I didn't. In addition to the warning pop-up's, random windows keep opening up and going to uncalled for sites such as: seniorcellphones.com, lyricshut.com and so on... I have run malaware bytes sevral times, after the incidents it tends to find something but normally,before an attack or incident, it does not come up with anything. The bug is still in their somewhere and I have run Microsoft Malicous software removal tool, SASSE, and spybot. They all find adware cookies but this symptom/virus is still in there. and I don't know how to root it out. Thanx!

Hello.

Download [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] by OldTimer to your Desktop.

  • Close all windows and double click OTL.exe
  • Click Run Scan and let the program run uninterrupted
  • It will produce two logs for you, one will pop up - OTL.txt, the other will be saved on your Desktop - Extras.txt. Post both logs in this thread.
  • You may need to use two posts to get it all.
